ABOUT THE ARTIST: DIANN REICHERTS-LEMMEN

Diann Reicherts-Lemmen studied at the Norte Dame University in South Bend, and the Herron School of Art in . She graduated from the ‘Artists School’ in Westport, Connecticut (since closed). It was a mecca of famous commercial artists who donated time to the school to give ‘in-depth’ instruction. She worked as a commercial artist for various clients for the Printing House, Elkhart, Indiana before moving to . In Grand Rapids she was employed as a designer, and woodcarver of fine wood furniture carvings. She painted embellishments with enamel on fine furniture, mostly Chinese designs. Diann shows her art work in local art shows and continues to study art in Michigan, specifically at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. She recently graduated from the Freed Studio’s Apprenticeship Program in Parchment, Michigan where she was working with a professional artist in his studio. As part of her studies she worked with Community Inner Resources in Battle Creek developing a outdoor mural paid by government grant to enrich the community, the director was Linda Link. Diann just completed building a new studio to house her classes and painting commissions in Allendale, MI. The most recent commission was the sale and installation of the drawing and painting of ‘Vision of Heaven’. The drawing was enclosed in Plexiglas, 48” by 64” and hung on the wall with stand-off units. The painting ‘Vision of Heaven’ is 42” x 60” and was hand-stretch to size and painted with oil on linen. The two works were purchased by Jean McDonald and will hang in the Lifestream Church, Dr., Allendale, MI. Diann Reicherts-Lemmen has paintings on the Artprize website: ‘Lies and Deceit’ and ‘Shores of Lake Michigan’. ‘Lies and Deceit’ is 42” x 60” and it hung on the ground floor of the Huntington Bank during Artprize 2011. ‘Shores of Lake Michigan’ is three panels stretching a total of 7’ when hung together. The painting won Purchase Award at the St. Joseph Michiana Competition, sponsored by Liberty Steel of St. Joseph, MI, and hung at Alten Place during Artprize 2010. It is now in Chicago, IL.
