May 19 Ali Moore Freelance broadcaster and journalist A Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Melbourne Moderator & Chairman on Business Dialogue Experienced chairman and moderator of business events Professional experience • Ali Moore has a wealth of broadcast journalism experience spanning over 25 years with Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Australia’s Nine Network, and for the BBC’s global news network, based in Singapore. She has covered major news and current affairs events across the region, reporting from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and China. • In her work, she has interviewed all of Australia’s top political personalities as well as many of its prominent business leaders. • She is now a freelance broadcaster and journalist and a Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Melbourne, working with AsiaLink. Sample assignments • Ali has filled the role of conference host, panel moderator on many occasions, also being called-upon to help run hypotheticals, Q&A sessions and to conduct one-on-ones live interviews on stage. • She has chaired major forums with various organisations, some on multiple occasions, including the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA), Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Australia Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (ACVAL), British Chamber of Commerce (in Australia), Australasian Investor Relations Awards, Australian Council of Superannuation Investors and others. She is also a freelance broadcaster and journalist, based in Melbourne and is also a Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Melbourne, working with Asialink. • 2012: Relocated to Singapore doing freelance work, including for the BBC’s Asia Business Report. • 2011 - Jan 2012: hosted Lateline, ABC’s flagship late evening national news and current affairs programme. • 2010: Inaugural host Afternoon Live on ABC News 24, the ABC’s 24 hour TV news channel. • 2008: seconded to Melbourne to host Mornings on the ABC’s Melbourne talk back radio station. • 2006 - 2010: Inaugural host of Lateline Business, ABC TV Sydney. Lateline Business (now called The Business) is the ABC’s nightly national business news and current affairs programme. During this period, she regularly filled-in as host of 7.30 Report, ABC’s nightly national television current affairs programme. • 1996 – 2006: Reporter, and later host, (2003-2006) of Business Sunday, Nine Network, Sydney. Business Sunday was national weekly business news and current affairs programme on the then top-rating Channel Nine. During this period, she also filled in as co-host on the morning news programme, the Today Show.
