Page 1 of 48 Chairman’s Report Season 2013 has seen us build on the work done over the past few years with respect to Club facilities and management. At the end of 2012 BMCC fulfilled their commitment to invest heavily in Summerhayes Park and we have no doubt reaped the benefit of this during the season. In the 18 years I have been involved with the Club this is the first year I can recall finishing a season with a full cover of grass on Field 1. Many of you will have noticed that at the end of this season Council were again at work on the fields undertaking leveling, turfing, top-dressing and further drainage. With the sound financial management we have adopted over the past several years, SUFC have been able to contribute to this field maintenance to further improve the surface quality. This will see even better playing surfaces throughout 2014 and beyond. Thanks to Council for their support and efforts and also to those club members who have helped along the way. 2013 has also seen us finally receive approval to renew the occupancy license on the Clubhouse. Many will be unaware that despite having built the Clubhouse, the Club has been struggling to renew the license for a variety of reasons. Again, thanks to the strong support of our local Councilors and Council staff the Club has signed a license agreement giving us tenure of the facility until 2027. While achieving these objectives is great, we still have a lot we want to achieve. Plans are already being made by the Management Committee and priorities established for the next round of improvements. Having established a collaborative working relationship with BMCC we will work closely with them to ensure the continued development and maintenance of the fields and facilities for the benefit of not just club members, but the community in general. At this year’s AGM I will be stepping down as Chairman after 3 years in the position. I feel having achieved the objectives I set for myself when taking on the role, it is now time to hand over to someone who can continue the development and take the club to its next level. Over these 3 years, like the 18 I have been involved with the Club, I have met and worked with some wonderful and dedicated people. It would be unfair to single out anyone, but I would be remiss if I did not make mention of the great Management & Football Committee members, Coaches and Managers who ensure the club remains viable and that you and/or your children get to experience a great sport, in a great atmosphere with ever improving facilities. Finally, I would like to thank all of the players and parents who together with those mentioned above make this club what it is - great. Wayne Moloney Chairman Springwood United Football Club To get yourself and/or your children on the fields each week we need people to help out on the Committee. These is a great way for you to become involved, meets lots of the members and have a say in the way YOUR club is run. If you think a committee position may take up too much time but would still like to be involved, there are plenty of areas you could help without committing to a dedicated role. If you can help, please email [email protected] Page 2 of 48 Director of Finance’s Report Well another season has come and gone. The club continues to be in a strong financial position which has allowed us to make a substantial contribution towards the Blue Mountain City Council upgrade of Field 1, $10,000 in total. Additionally we have made the following provisions:- $7,500 to complete the grandstand i.e. close in sides and fronts to eliminate rubbish underneath $20,000 towards replacing shirts in 2-3 years’ time, funds are allocated each year from your registrations to avoid additional fundraising and sourcing of sponsorship. We are also putting on a bigger presentation day than in previous years plus keeping some funds in reserve to make further improvements around Summerhayes Park. Finally after 5 years as Treasurer, I have decided to step down from the role. I would like to thank all the Committee Members, Coaches & Managers, mums, dads and players who have provided support to me and the Club on the whole and wish you all well in the future. Anja Minney Treasurer Springwood United Football Club “I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.” Mia Hamm 2013 Annual General Meeting Friday 25th October, 7:00pm Springwood Golf Club Refer to SUFC Website within 30 days of AGM date for all details regarding nominations. Page 3 of 48 Field Management & Maintenance Committee Report The start of the year saw a delay with getting onto field 1 due to the final stages carried out by council in upgrading the field with a new type of turf and drainage but what an amazing difference the money spent by our club and council in the field improvement. It is the first time that all fields were still playable right up till the end of the season. The great result would not have been possible without all the teams and players support in the field management that is carried out during the season that does unfortunately cause inconvenience. Thanks to everyone for your patience and assistance throughout the season. There is ongoing work in the off season on field 1 with more drainage work being conducted and field 2 receiving some much needed drainage work around the car park fence. Our relationship with council is strong and will see much needed no parking signage and bollards to prevent cars parking in awkward areas. Thanks to the crew that help set up the goal posts, the fields and removal of goal posts at the end of the season and park final clean up. Special thanks to Ian Strudwick for his tireless efforts in always having the fields line marked for the club throughout the season. FMCC: Roy Clifford, Ian Strudwick, Derek Temple and Paul Parlato. Craig Adams Vice Chairman Springwood United Football Club “Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.” Bobby Charlton To get yourself and/or your children on the fields each week we need people to help out on the Committee. Both teams had an outside chance of going through to the last 16. Serbia only needed to draw and for Ghana to lose against Germany. Australia needed to make up a four goal difference on Ghana. It was the Serbians who looked likelier to score in the first half. They totally dominated Australia and it was only the heroics of Aussie goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer that kept the game goalless at half time. Australia came out a different team after the break. They showed great spirit in taking the game to Serbia. This paid off on 69 minutes when Tim Cahill powered in a brilliant header. A stunning long-range shot four minutes later from Brett Holman and the news Ghana were a goal down against the Germans meant Australia needed two more to go through. But then Marko Pantelic scored for Serbia on 84 minutes. The 2-1 score line meant both teams were out. MEDIA RELEASE AFC ASIAN CUP AUSTRALIA 2015 DEL PIERO NAMED GLOBAL AMBASSADOR Alessandro Del Piero has been named global ambassador for AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015. The current Sydney FC player and Italian national team legend will help take Asia’s biggest football event to an even larger audience, further boosting its profile beyond the borders of the world’s biggest region. “I am very proud to be associated with the biggest football tournament ever held in Australia, the country that has become my home for the past two years,” Del Piero said after his appointment was announced in Sydney on Tuesday. “Asia is the fastest growing region in world football. “To be given the responsibility of hosting Asia’s premier championship is a huge honour for Australia. “To be given the responsibility of serving as global ambassador for that championship is a huge honour for me.” Michael Brown, CEO of the AFC Asian Cup’s Local Organising Committee, said Del Piero’s stature in world football would cement Australia 2015 as a global event. “Alessandro is one of the giants of the game,” Mr Brown said. “He has galvanised interest in the A-League over the past two years, and we hope his association with the AFC Asian Cup will do the same for what is the second oldest continental championship in the world. “The AFC Asian Cup is our equivalent of the Euros, and is in fact older. “Alessandro’s appointment extends the reach of our ambassador program. “It complements the great work of our Captain Ambassador Lucas Neill.

Sydney Monday 10 October 2011 The message from Qantas Socceroos is that that they are ready to face Oman tomorrow in their 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier at ANZ Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday 11 October 2011, Kick-Off 7.30pm AEDT). Speaking at the official pre-match media conference today, Osieck is expecting a tough encounter but will be preparing his team for victory. “We can forget about whatever happened in the past, tomorrow is they game and we have to fully focus on that. That is what we are going to do. “The qualification has not come to an end. All teams in our group still have the chance to go through. “So that makes every game difficult because all teams will go for the three points. “They try to get the utmost out of it and that is what I am expecting tomorrow as well. “A victory is a victory, there is never an excuse for a victory and we go for that tomorrow,” concluded Osieck Qantas Socceroos captain Lucas Neill is also expecting a tough game against Oman tomorrow, but believes that his team is up for the challenge. “We know they’re very difficult, we know they can cause problems because of the pace that they have. With their speed they can break on the counter. “We have to be playing to our potential, or as close to our potential as possible on the night, otherwise we could find ourselves in an embarrassing situation. “Are we ready? Of course we’re ready this is the reason we have come back to play this game.
