On Demand Contents All participants will be freely available for viewing the videos of the presentations on demand. Question-and-Answer will be also held. Virtual Exhibit Hall An interactive exhibit hall will offer attendees opportunities to learn about the latest advances in burn care as well as view new products to improve patient care. The congress will be held under the theme “THE NEXT DYNAMIC CHANGE IN BURN CARE – Coping with Infection, Infection prevention and control–”. What is the next key to changing the outcome of burn treatment dynamically? Great progress has been made in intensive care, respiratory management, and nutrition management. Advanced wound care techniques and materials have been introduced in topical therapy and surgery. However, the challenge that stands in the way of the latest treatment is “infection”. Burn wound infection makes wound closure difficult and systemic infection causes organ failure. If we can prevent and control infection, we can make the next dynamic change in burn treatment. In addition to fighting these bacterial infections, we are also fighting a new virus. COVID-19 pandemic, which has drastically changed our treatment environment. In APBC 2021, we expect to share more knowledge about this situation. We look forward to seeing you in virtual APBC 2021. -4- Keynotes Speakers The following is a list of APBC2021’s invited speakers. • Results of Accreditations Performed by the Japan University Accreditation Association
Results of Accreditations Performed by the Japan University Accreditation Association May 31, 2019 Introduction In 2002, the Certified Evaluation and Accreditation System was introduced in Japan (enforced in 2004), obligating all higher education institutions (universities, junior colleges and technical colleges) to undergo an evaluation once every 7 years, and all professional graduate schools to undergo an evaluation once every 5 years as well. In each case, the evaluating agency certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) conducts the evaluation process, comprehensively assessing the level of education, and other areas. Since its establishment in 1947, the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA) has played a significant role in assuring the quality of higher education. On August 31, 2004, the JUAA was authorized by the Minister of MEXT as the first Certified Evaluation and Accreditation Agency for universities. Authorization for its Certified Evaluation and Accreditation later expanded to several other fields. The JUAA currently performs Certified Evaluation and Accreditation in 9 fields (university, junior college, law school, professional graduate business school, professional graduate public policy school, professional graduate school of public health, professional graduate school of intellectual property studies, professional graduate school of global communications, and professional graduate school of digital contents) and the accreditation for school of veterinary medicine. JUAA has just finalized the results of accreditations for FY 2018 as follows. FY 2018 University Accreditation (Certified Evaluation and Accreditation for University) Results On accepting applications for University Accreditation from 27 universities, the JUAA has undertaken the evaluative process. The evaluation including document-analysis and site-visit has been conducted by the University Accreditation Committee with subcommittees.

  • Algorithm of the JJ Risk Engine
SUPPLEMENTARY DATA Algorithm of the JJ risk engine. The JJ risk engine calculates t-year probabilities of fatal and non-fatal coronary heart disease, fatal and non-fatal stroke, non-cardiovascular mortality, overt nephropathy defined by persistent proteinuria and progression of retinopathy by inputting a covariate vector X and a time point for prediction t (i.e. the formula calculates 5-year probability if t=5) into the formula shown below. 2 Specifically, define X={sex (man=0, woman=1), age, HbA1C, years after diagnosis, BMI<18.5 kg/m (yes=1, no=0), BMI≥25 kg/m2 (yes=1, no=0), systolic blood pressure, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, log-transformed urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio, atrial fibrillation (yes=1, no=0), current smoker (yes=1, no=0), leisure time physical activity (≥3.8METs-h/wk=1, otherwise=0) }. Let βjk be a vector of log hazard ratios for transition from state j to k; the state indexed by j=1…7 represent the initial state, presence of Stage 1 or 4 retinopathy, fatal and non-fatal coronary heart disease, fatal and non-fatal stroke, non-cardiovascular mortality, overt nephropathy defined by persistent proteinuria and progression of retinopathy, respectively. The states j=3…7 were assumed to be absorbing. The estimated hazard ratios for the JJ risk engine, exp(βjk), are provided in Table 1. Let λ0jk(t) be a baseline transition intensity for transition from state j to k. Then, the cause-specific transition intensity for a patient with covariate Xi is written as λijk(t)=λ0jk(t)exp(Xiβjk).
