March 28, 2014

To All DU Banquet Attendees,

On behalf of Frederick County DU, thank you for joining us at our annual Spring Banquet. Your participation and generosity is extremely valuable to the longevity of our wetlands conservation and more importantly, our American heritage. As a result of your generosity last year, Fiscal Year 2013 was a period of marked growth for Ducks Unlimited, and we simply could not have done any of it without you! I would like to take a moment to thank all those attending this year’s banquet for your support. Through your generous donations and participation in our auctions and raffles, Ducks Unlimited will continue its mission of leading conservation initiatives and creating habitat restoration projects, preservation and research. The money we raise tonight will be used to fund habitat preservation and restoration projects in Maryland and across the nation. Through the tireless recruitment efforts of our volunteers this past year, DU increased our volunteer enrollment by 13 percent; growing our ranks to more than 48,000 active volunteers. These loyal folks worked with DU staff to raise more than $88 million for conservation in FY13, with an additional $68 million in future commitments through Major Sponsor pledges and planned giving. Another highlight from last year is a grand total of 142,595 acres conserved in FY13, bringing the cumulative total of acres conserved to more than 13.1 million since 1937. Accomplishments like these are impossible without the generous support from people like you. Because of your generous dedication to Ducks Unlimited, we are able to put your money, your time and your efforts to good use. Our organization could not be where it is today without the continued support of our community and volunteers. Please join me in recognizing all of the Sponsors, Donors, and Advertisers for their generous contributions. A special thank you goes to our organizing committee for their hard work in arranging this year’s banquet. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the coming year to continue filling the skies with waterfowl for future generations. Remember to bid as high as possible, since “IT’S FOR THE DUCKS!” Once again, thank you for your generosity. Have a great time and enjoy your evening. Sincerely,

Christopher Markoe Chairman, Frederick County Chapter
