Graham travelled to the USA in 1994 with Ambassadors in Sport to U12 Boys SYL Division Runners-Up 2016/17 coach and evangelise in San Jose, California during the 1994 World Cup. While he was there he had LCSYFL U16 League Winners 2014/15 a vision to form a Christian football club on his return to the UK. LCSYFL U16 League Cup “Finalists” 2014/15 U16 Boys AFA County Cup Runners-up 2013/14 In 1996 this happened. With the team only having 7 players, it joined Division 5 of the Kingston & LCSYFL U16 League Winners 2013/14 District League (KDL). By the start of the season, the team had 17 players mainly from the West Side LCSYFL U16 League Cup Winners 2013/14 Church youth group. In this first season the team, player managed by Graham Holder, won KDL LCSYFL U16 Charity Cup Winners 2013/14 Division 5, the Tec Cup, and the Sportsmanship Cup and were runners-up in the League Junior Cup. U15 Boys London FA County Cup Runners-up 2012/13 Not a bad start and with Dave Doran scoring 55 goals. LSYFL U15 League Winners 2012/13 The club grew to have three adult mens teams in the KDL with brothers, friends and friends of friends LSYFL U13 League Runners-up 2012/13 joining. The 1st team progressed through the divisions of the KDL and in 1999/20 were Division 2 U18 Boys SYL Premier Elite Division Winners 2011/12 Champions and were promoted directly to the KDL Premier Division and won this the following season LSYFL U14 KO Cup Winners 2011/12 2000/01. LSYFL U14 League Winners 2011/12

The club decided to have a further season in the KDL Premier and apply for promotion to the Surrey U14 Boys London FA County Cup Winners 2011/12 South Eastern Combination Intermediate League (SSEC) the following season. Unfortunately, the U12 Boys London FA County Cup Runners-up 2011/12 LSYFL U12 KO Cup Runners-up 2011/12 plan went wrong when the team ended 3rd. Graham decided to take a gamble and transferred the LSYFL U16 Shield Winners 2011/12 team into the SSEC Junior 1 and it gained promotion to the Intermediate League in 2002/03 by LSYFL U16 League Runners-up 2011/12 winning the last game of the season against promotion rivals Warlingham. U16 Boys London FA County Cup Runners-up 2010/11 Graham Holder remained Manager until 2008/09 and after 12 years stepped down to manage the Res LSYFL U16 League Runners-up 2010/11 in SSEC Junior 1. His Assistant Manager, Steve Walters took over the job of 1st team manager. LSYFL U15 KO Cup Winners 2010/11 During those 12 years, the club won numerous trophies – see clubs honours page - including being LSYFL U15 League Runners-up 2010/11 FA Charter Standard National Adult Club of the Year 2005/06. In 2018/19 we finished 3rd and gained promotion to Step 6 of the U16 Boys London FA County Cup Winners 2008/09 National Football Structure and entered the Combined Counties Division 1. We moved to ground LSYFL U16 League Runners-up 2008/09 share with Chessington and Hook United and despite a relatively good start, our season like many Boys U13 AFA Cup Runners-up 2008/09 others was curtailed by COVID -19. LSYFL U15 KO Cup Winners 2008/09 LSYFL U14 Sporting Spirit Award 2007/08 Also, in 2004, the club became the first Christian team to take a Mission Tour to Senegal in West LSYFL U14 KO Cup Winners 2007/08 Africa. A great adventure, two years of planning and a difficult one for a Christian team in a mainly LSYFL U14 League Runners-up 2007/08 Muslim country. The tour was a great success and we returned in 2007 with an even more gruelling Surrey County Girls U16 Prem Division Sportsmanship Winners 2007/08 schedule of matches, coaching and Christian evangelism. There were some very unusual pitches and Girls U16 London County Cup Runners-up 2007/08 football in the jungle is a real experience! We also have connections with Romania and Sierra Leone. Girls U16 AFA Cup Runners-up 2007/08 We believe that our original vision to be a multi team club has blossomed over the years since 1996. LSYFL U13 Sporting Spirit Award 2006/07 The club has expanded greatly since starting youth and girls’ football in 2002. Under the overall LSYFL U12 League Runners-up 2005/06 control of Jane Walters, we now have over 30 youth boys teams from U7 to U18 with teams playing LSYFL U12 League KO Cup Runners-up 2005/06 on both Saturday and Sunday and a ladies and two girls teams (U14 and U10). As you all Surrey FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 know we beat Billingshurst 2-0 in the Extra Preliminary Round but today will be a South East of England FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2005, 2006, 2007 much bigger test of how our team is developing. Chatham Town have a long FA National Charter Standard Club of the Year 2006 history and have played in the Isthmian League and are currently in the Southern Counties East Premier Division, one Step above us but, with ambition to return to Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Developing Community Sports’ Award 2006 the higher level. Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity’ Award Our season in the CCL has started well with a 5-1 against Sandhurst Town last Jane Walters, Westside FC 2015 Saturday and an excellent 3–0 win on Tuesday night at Epsom & Ewell. They beat Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity’ Award us twice last year but we are a much stronger side than then and even when we Dave Crilly, Westside FC 2016 went down to 10 men with 20 minutes to go, we were well in the match. Three break away goals in the last fifteen minutes not only saw us home but resulted in Adult Men Tevon Websters second hat trick in two games. This put us into second place and with Godalming Town to playnext Wednesday, the games are coming thick and Step 6 Promotion to Combined Counties League 2018/19 fast. Due to the weather and COVID it will be the first time we have played Step 7 Promotion to Surrey Elite Intermediate League 2015/16 Godalming. Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate Division 1 Champions 2015/16 I am not sure whether today’s match will be covered by the National Press but we Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate Div 2 Champions 2014/15 had fantastic coverage in the Express, Star and Mirror in the last round. It was Surrey South Eastern Combination Geoff Ellis Senior Shield Runner-up 2014/15 great to see that in the Mirror we had a whole page except for a very small column Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Division 4 Sportsmanship Winners 2013/14 about somebody called Messi! Maybe he plays for someone in the Sussex league! Surrey South Eastern Combination League Junior Cup Runner-up 2013/14 Many thanks for all those who travelled to Billingshurst to support us and we have a Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Division 4 Sportsmanship Winners 2012/13 few former players with us today. Kingston & District League Intermediate Shield Winners 2002/03 Those who read my comments regularly last season will know, I cannot finish these Kingston & District League Division 4, Runners-up 2002/03 notes without a reference to God who provides the talent that enables both our Kingston & District League Premier Division Champions 2000/01 players and those of our opponents to play this great game. Today I would like to Kingston & District League Division 2 Champions 1999/2000 give you a quote about the future from Manchester United’s forward Odion Ighalo. He says “Only God knows what the future holds. I just wake up each morning and Kingston & District League Sportsmanship Cup Winners 1999/2000 & 1996/97 thank God for what he has done. I don’t know what the future holds but I know that Kingston & District League Division 5 Champions 1996/97 God is good and he knows the future he has planned for me” It is not only players at our level who have faith in God but those in the Premiership as well. Post War, Chatham won the Premier Division of the Kent Amateur League in 1946/47, which was Thank you to our Sponsors to be their last honour under that name - having previously dropped the 'United' in 1898. On 7th

January 1947 they merged with Shorts F.C., the combined club taking the name Chatham Town at the request of the local Council, and a place in Division One of the Kent League for the following season. There they were to remain until the League disbanded in 1959, whereupon they moved to the newly formed Aetolian League. During this latter period they appeared in the Aetolian League Cup Final in each of the five seasons it was contested, though winning only once in 1962/63. The following year they finally captured the League Championship, as well as the Aetolian/London League Cup and then, when the Aetolian League formally merged with the London League they moved to the Metropolitan League, in 1964/65, in search of stronger opposition.

Inspiring Children to fall in love with Sport Although the club were drawing crowds of up to 1,000 playing against strong Non-League opponents as well as sides from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, they lost no CEO & Managing Director: Luke Smith BSc time in returning to the Kent League when it was reformed in 1968. Up until their return to the 0203 375 6114 Southern League in 1983, they had won the Kent League on four further occasions, completing the League and Cup double in both 1971/72 and 1977/78.

www.pioneersportsacademy.co.uk For a brief period during the seventies they changed their name to Medway F.C., again at the request of the local Council, but happily reverted back to Chatham Town in 1979. In 1980 they achieved their biggest post-war success to date in winning the Eastern Professional Floodlight League, playing against some of the strongest Non League clubs of the day, including Maidstone United, and defeating Chelmsford City in the Final over two legs.

In 1983 Chatham returned to the Southern League for the fourth time, this time staying there until 1988, when having failed to gain re-election they were relegated back to the Kent League - once again in severe financial difficulties, with crowds often in double figures against poorly supported clubs, as opposed to the much healthier attendances they had enjoyed in the Kent League against more local opposition.

After struggling during their first couple of seasons back in the Kent League, the real turnabout in the clubs' fortunes came with the appointment of popular former player John Adams as First Team manager, however despite reaching the Third Qualifying Round of the F.A. Cup in 1993/94, taking the club to the Final of the Kent Senior Trophy in 1995/96 and finishing in the top three of the Kent League for three successive seasons, he was dismissed by the club following a disastrous start to the 1996/97 season.

1997/98 was to prove one of the most difficult seasons in the club's history. Problems with a new drainage system meant that only a handful of games could be played at Maidstone Road - which led to a brief return to their "spiritual home" on the Lines, courtesy of the Royal Engineers, as well as a brief ground-share with Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium. The club returned home for the 1998/99 season under new manager Carl Laraman, fortunes improving immediately before in January Laraman left to take up a coaching position at Charlton Athletic. His assistant, Steve MATCH DAY PROGRAMMES Hearn, was appointed player-manager and finally led the club to the Kent League Championship, and promotion to the Dr. Martens League, in 2000/01.

Our match programmes can be found online at: The club enjoyed a good start to their first season back at this level, but a poor run of results at the end of the season led to Steve Hearn's resignation and the appointment of his assistant Peter www.westsidefc.org.uk/clubdocuments Coupland as his successor. After a bad start to the 2003/04 season, Clive Walker replaced

Assistant Steve Binks was appointed manager and results improved towards the tail end of the season. Chatham finished the season in 11th place, and was Kent's highest placed club.

Following yet another Pyramid reshuffle, the next few seasons saw the club ping-pong between the Ryman League North and South Divisions with regular mid table positions. Despite this, changes at boardroom level revitalised the atmosphere around the club and a number of ground We can look at any level of sponsorship to help inspire these young men to achieve more than they ever improvements have been undertaken as the first step in what will hopefully be a new era of thought they could. Vast close season changes saw a 4G artificial pitch laid and yet more improvements to the clubhouse take place, that coupled with links to local businesses and partnerships to develop sporting legacies has made it an exciting time to be part of Chatham Town FC.

Following the resignation of James Collins in October 2019, the club turned to Scott Lindsey to take The Chats onwards. Scott brought in ex Chats player Darran Smith as his assistant, whilst retaining the experienced Tony Hine as goalkeeper coach. Ex Arsenal Carl Laraman was installed Please let me know your thoughts and if you would like to be part of this story. We are in real difficulties as Director of football and so, yet another chapter in Chatham Town’s rich history began. this year (as our many sports and social clubs) and ANY help is so so much appreciated. Hope to hear back from you.
