SELF-GUIDED ADVENTURE CONFIRMATION AND GUIDELINES (Please copy and distribute this information to all chaperones.)

We are so excited to have you participate in our Self-Guided Adventure (SGA)! The following information is intended to help you prepare for your students’ experience. Please read this packet thoroughly and ensure everyone in your group is aware of the information. Please contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to seeing you! The SeaWorld SGA program is a self-guided educational experience that focuses on ocean animals – their habitats, adaptations, and conservation. The program includes two educational animal presentations. Check-in begins at 8:45 a.m. and entry begins at 9:30 a.m. The program ends at approximately 1:30 p.m.

PARK NON-OPERATING DAY: This Self-Guided Adventure is being offered on park operating days. Please be aware that SeaWorld will be open to the public during your field trip program. This means that the general public will also be granted admission along with all school groups coming. During your program, all restaurants and snack/beverage kiosks will be open (pending availability). The park attractions, such as the roller coasters, midway games, Bay of Play, etc. will be operating during this program.*

*Please note that Park Attractions are not included on this experience. If groups would like to include experiencing all park attractions, they should review the Stay and Play add-on admission ticket section.

If you were interested in coming to SeaWorld when the park was closed to the public and only available for school groups, please see our Instructional Field Experience program.

PRICE AND PAYMENT: Payment must be received one month prior to your program date. If payment is not received one month prior to the program date, the group may forfeit their reservation. A minimum of 10 paying participants is required. Program admission may not be used towards SeaWorld Pass or Fun Card purchase.

Student Rate is $8.00 per student. For every three students paid, one chaperone will receive the student rate of $8.00. All chaperones above the 1:3 ratio will be charged $25.00 per additional chaperone. Special Education groups may bring one adult for every one student. (All participants pay the program fee.)

Season Passes, discount coupons, and other offers CANNOT be applied toward any entrance fees on IFE days. The only exception to this policy is Teacher Fun Card Passes. NO CASH PLEASE. Checks or money orders should be made payable to SeaWorld San Antonio, school checks are preferred. If a personal check or personal credit card is used, tax will be applied to the payment. The state of does not allow exceptions. The state of Texas does not allow exceptions. If you are tax exempt, please ask for a tax exempt form. (The form must be complete in order to process your payment).

If you need to adjust the number of students and chaperones attending the program, please contact the Education & Conservation Department at 210-523-3608 for approval and a new invoice.

ADMISSION WRISTBANDS: School Groups are given admission wristbands for each participant participating on an SGA. The wristband will act as a park ticket for each participant and grant them access and readmission to Discovery Point and SeaWorld. Wristbands are required to be worn for admittance and duration of the program. All groups must pay in advance in order to receive their wristbands prior to the day of their visit. Wristbands will be mailed to out approximately three weeks prior to their program date. Reservations or payments made within the four week window will receive wristbands upon arrival. All participants must be wrist-banded before entering the park.

To receive a refund for participants that are unable to attend, Group Leaders must bring back all unused wristbands. Only unused wristbands will be refunded. For any additional questions please contact the Education department at 210-523-3608. ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN: • Our main entrance parking lot will be open at 8:00 a.m. • There is no charge for parking. Parking passes will be sent to the group leader two weeks before their program date. Group leaders are responsible for distributing copies of the parking pass to chaperones that are driving their personal vehicles. No refunds will be issued for any chaperones who fail to receive a parking pass from their group leaders. All participants should park in general parking. Busses will park in bus parking (Parking Lot 15). • Students should remain on the bus until you have reached the bus unload zone. At the Bus unload zone, an Ambassador will board your bus before your students unload and share information including where check- in is located. • When unloading the busses, please have all students move immediately towards the center of the plaza. It is unsafe for students to remain in the loading area. • Once all participants have their wristband on, they should proceed to Main Arches to go through the security check point. Due to security concerns, all bags are subject to search. Please do not bring: straight pins, straws, glass containers, or weapons. • If you are delayed, please call the Education Office at (210) 523-3608.

CHAPERONES: Chaperones attending must stay for the entire program. Chaperones are expected to assist our Education staff with managing student behavior and ensuring students are adhering to all safety guidelines. Any guests or siblings (older or younger) of participants attending the program will be included as a participant and will be charged the full program fee.

All chaperones that are paying separately or are outside the maximum one adult per three student ratio must pay the $25 admission fee. Chaperones not included in the group’s final payment or additional chaperones will be able to the morning of their program only.

LUNCHES: You may bring your own lunches in sturdy, labeled, and sealed boxes or coolers. Upon arrival in the main parking lot, please drop your lunches at the Ports of Call gate (near Parking Lot 15, which is school bus parking). Schools are responsible for unloading their own lunches onto the sidewalk. SeaWorld staff are not permitted to unload anything off of a bus. Once unloaded, SeaWorld employees will transport your lunch venue (please note that lunches will not be refrigerated during this time). You will be provided with a scheduled time and location for your group to eat lunch together. • Please note that groups will be responsible for transporting their empty containers and coolers back their busses, which must be completed before the end of the lunch period. Access to the parking lot will be allowed through the Ports of Call Gate to return coolers to busses. • Our stadiums can be used as a lunch venues. When eating in one of our stadiums, your entire group will have access to stadium-style seating and can enjoy their lunch picnic-style, as the stadium layout cannot accommodate tables. • Please ensure all containers have the name of your school/group clearly labeled so our staff can ensure that all of your lunches stay together. • Coolers are not permitted through our main entrance gate. Any parents who are bringing their lunches separately must also drop their lunches off at the Ports of Call gate (next to parking lot 15). Please make sure parents are aware that the school’s name must be clearly labeled on the cooler.

Groups will have from 9:15 AM to 10:45 AM and from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM to explore our immersive exhibits. During this exploration, we will provide groups with an Exhibit Scavenger Hunt to facilitate deeper conversations about our animals with your students. By making observations, engaging the exhibit educator, or reviewing the graphics, students will be able to gain key insight on our diverse animal collection, and on how they can positively impact wildlife.

STAY AND PLAY Groups can spend the rest of the day enjoying SeaWorld shows, rides, and Sesame Street® Bay of Play by adding a discounted All Day Play fee. Interested groups should inquiry about pricing and more details when making their reservation.

PROGRAM GUIDELINES: It is the responsibility of the group leader to share the following information with all members of their group: • To assure all participants have an equal opportunity to benefit from the program, we require participants to use appropriate behavior while visiting our park. SeaWorld San Antonio reserves the right to remove participants who exhibit inappropriate behavior. • Please dress appropriately for the outdoors and forecasted weather. All education programs spend time outdoors and involve a considerable amount of walking. It is highly recommended that you bring water bottles for your group so that they will have water throughout the program. There will be opportunity during the program to visit water fountains to refill bottles. (Please do not bring drinks with straws, as they may be hazardous to the animals). • Students must be chaperoned at all times. Please adhere to all school behavior and dress codes. • Conduct problems are referred to SeaWorld Security Department and will be reported to school principals and district officials.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: What is the difference between SeaWorld’s Self-Guided Adventure and the Instructional Field Experience? Both programs are self-guided and cost the same amount, however the primary difference is the Self-Guided Adventure Program is offered on days the park is open to the general public. This means that the general public will also be granted admission along with all school groups coming. During your program, all restaurants and snack/beverage kiosks will be open (pending availability). The park attractions, such as the roller coasters, midway games, Bay of Play, etc. will be operating during this program.*

Instructional Field Experiences are only offered on days the park is closed to the general public. This means that only school groups who have made a reservation will be granted access to enter SeaWorld. During Instructional Field Experiences, all park attractions and restaurants, such as the roller coasters, midway games, Bay of Play, etc. will be closed and not available during this program. Only the animal exhibits and educational presentations will be made available during this program.

*Please note that Park Attractions are not included on this experience. If groups would like to include experiencing all park attractions, they should review the Stay and Play add-on option. Can we pay for our Self-Guided Adventure the day of the program? No, we ask that all groups pay in-full, a minimum of one month prior to their program date. Any groups that have not paid by this point may forfeit their reservation.

Can we use annual Passes and Fun Cards for the school field trip program or tour fees? Yes, Season Passes CAN be applied toward any entrance fees on SGA days.

If I am using a season pass for park entry, will I still need a wristband? YES, participants using their active season pass will be given a wristband. They will need to present their season pass upon arrival to receive a wristband.

Will we have a tour today? The SeaWorld Self-Guided Adventure program is self-guided. We offer guided educational programs for an additional fee. Tours must be reserved by group leaders in advance and are subject to availability.

Are rides and shows included on the field trip? The Self-Guided Adventure program focuses on ocean animals – their habitats, adaptations, and conservation. It includes educational animal presentations. Your group may visit any of the animal habitats, however, rides and other shows are not included.

Do we have to pay for parking? Currently, parking is included for schools and chaperones that have a copy of the SeaWorld Field Trip Parking Pass provided to the group leader. We encourage you to carpool. Guests arriving without the provided parking pass will be charged a parking fee. Parking pass is only valid for participants arriving on the day of the program between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. After that time, participants will be charged a parking fee.

Does this program go behind-the-scenes? This program does not go behind-the-scenes of any of our animal habitats.

Can we arrive late? Program components may be altered, abbreviated, or omitted to any late arrivals after 10:00 a.m. If you anticipate a delay, please contact the Education Office at 210-523-3608 and notify the staff of your estimated arrival time.

Can I go over the specified adult to student ratio? Any additional adults must pay $25, and if their admission is not included in the school’s payment, they will be taxed. Additional chaperones not included in the school’s final payment can pay upon arrival.

Are teachers free? No, teachers, chaperones, and students all pay the same low rate for education programs. However, teachers can apply their 2018 SeaWorld Fun Card towards admission for the program.

Can I reschedule my group’s trip? Please be sure to check your school calendar and bus/transportation availability before reserving your field trip to avoid any conflicts with the field trip day you reserve. Rescheduling is subject to availability.

I paid for a group of participants that did not show up. Can I get a refund? To receive a refund for participants that are unable to attend, Group Leaders must bring back all unused wristbands. Only unused wristbands will be refunded.
