It is my proud privilege and gives me immense pleasure to present before you the Report on Galgotias University as the Vice Chancellor of this University. At the outset, I congratulate all the Graduands who successfully completed their education at this temple of learning called Galgotias University and become eligible to receive the Degrees of the University on this auspicious and ceremonial day. Galgotias have been into education indirectly since 1930s through a publishing house namely Galgotia Publication Private Limited and has been quite popular in publishing the books in Engineering discipline in general and Computer Science & Engineering in particular. It has over 80 years of legacy. The Thought-Seed of Galgotias University was sown in the 1930s, through a deep involvement with books and education –with a retail outlet for books, under the marquee of E D Galgotia & Sons, in Connaught Place, New Delhi, as its very first step. During late 1990s Galgotias Group of Institutions have been formed founded by Smt Shakuntala Educational and Welfare Society led by our Visionary Chairman Hon’ble Suneel Galgotia in 1999. This group established Galgotias Institute of Management & Technology (GIMT), Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) and Galgotias Business School (GBS). All these three Institutes come under the erstwhile Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow, which has been recently rechristened as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). These Institutions have always been among the top 5 Institutions of UPTU, out of over 700 affiliated Institutions of the University, both in terms of attracting best students from the state as well as in terms of placements. With this success, in the year 2011 Galgotias University has been established under Uttar Pradesh State Private Universities Act (Act No. 14), which is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. Galgotias Business School (GBS) has been merged with the Galgotias University in 2011 as School of Business (SOB). With a result GCET & GIMT continue to be under AKTU and are situated in Knowledge Park-II of Greater Noida near Expo Mart, which is our Campus-1 of around 20-Acre and houses around 6000 students. This campus (Campus-2) is of Galgotias University, which houses around 9000 students including 154 International students in a lush green sprawling 52-acre area campus.
