It is a credit to the commitment of last years open week committee and I know this years committee will also do the club proud. New for this years open week we will be relaying live tennis from our courts to the 65 inch ultra high definition TV in the Bar for your enjoyment. This year we have made improvements to our courts, they were commercially deep cleaned and re-sanded, hopefully competitors will enjoy them and the clubhouse facilities. Since 1911 our Senior Open championship has welcomed players of all abilities and fortunately, on a regular bases those with exceptional talent, from Davis Cup players from Ireland, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand to four CWLT open champions who went on to win Grand Slam doubles titles. Recent championships have been exceptionally competitive and hard fought competitions and I have no doubt this year’s championship will again provide a great display of high quality tennis. Congratulations to last years ladies Champion Anna Bowtell, and Mens Champion Dave O’Hare both receiving a winners prize of €1,000 each. On behalf of the club I wish to thank all those who make this event possible our main sponsor each year Tretorn, the patrons and advertisers in the programme who contribute generously, many year on year, our President, the right honourable Lord Meath and to our friendly neighbours in Greystones and Shankill LTCs for sharing their facilities A special thanks to this years committee under the stewardship of Bernie Flynn who has given so much to the club over the years. Thanks also to the bar and kitchen committees and all the volunteers that help out with various jobs during the Open Week. To our new club caretaker Joe Flynn and the people that help him get the club ready for this enjoyable week, with painting, planting flowers and adding a splash of colour to the club. It is all these people that work tirelessly behind the scenes that makes all of our Open Weeks such a great success and an event that people look forward to each year. JusTIn FITzsIMOns A QUICK WORD FROM THE 2016 OPEN WEEK COMMITTEE The Open Week committee would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, patrons, players and the members of Co.
