LAVERDI ORCHESTRA

LaVerdi was founded in 1993 by Vladimir Delman in . From 1999 to 2005 the position of Music Director has been held by that today is Honorary Director. Since its founding La Verdi has performed in its headquarters in Milan Auditorium Largo Gustav Mahler, Milan and in the most prestigious Concert Halls in Italy and abroad: in 2002 as well as being resident orchestra at the “Due Mondi” Festival in Spoleto, the Orchestra performed in France, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland during the first European tour; in 2003, conducted by Oleg Caetani, La Verdi has performed in Chile, Argentina and Brazil, and in the same year, conducted by Riccardo Chailly, has performed in the major concert halls during a tour in Japan with Martha Argerich and the Symphonic Choir of Milan, conducted by Romano Gandolfi.

In 2004 the Orchestra, under the guidance of Riccardo Chailly, made his debut at the Canary Islands Festival and has been engaged as the resident orchestra at the Festival of Nations in the City of Castello. In 2005 the Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi, under the baton of Eiji Oue and with the participation of the violinist Hilary Hahn, toured in Germany and France, continuing also with concert under Riccardo Chailly guide, in some of the major European cities including Frankfurt, Vienna and Budapest. In the same year the orchestra debuted at the 68th edition of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in May 2005. In autumn 2006, under the guidance of Marko Letonja , the Verdi Orchestra performed his first Italian tour. Therefore, in April 24 2008 in the occasion of the third anniversary of Benedetto XVI's pontificate, the Orchestra and the Choir of Milan Giuseppe Verdi, conducted by Oleg Caetani, performed at the Vatican in Eurovision at the presence of the Pope and the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano. In December 2008, both the orchestra and the choir were invited to Baku, Azerbaijan, at the II International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival. In addition to many nationally commitments, in 2011, with three performances of Carmen by , the orchestra celebrate the inauguration of the spectacular Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman, which is a candidate to enter the "top ten" of the ten best theaters of the world. In 2012, following another big tour in Russia and, in the presence of Benedetto XVI in Milan for the VII World Meeting of Families, the orchestra has been musical part of the liturgy. In 2013, after a tour in Germany with the violinist David Garret, was invited at the BBC Proms, universally considered the review n. 1 in the world of programming for large symphony orchestras. In the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano "Giuseppe Verdi", led by its Music Director, Ms. Zhang Xian, and accompanied by the lead vocal of the Maltese Joseph Calleja, played music bu Giuseppe Verdi, then moved to pure symphonic music with Manfred Symphony by Tchaikovsky.

La Verdi Orchestra has recorded lots of masterpieces under the guidance of leading conductors from all over the world. From 2003 the Orchestra has been recording D. Šostakovič's Symphonies for ARTS music record label under the baton of Oleg Caetani, starting from Symphony n° 5 in D minor op.

47, Symphony n° 6 in B minor op. 54, Symphony n° 7 in C major op. 60 "Leningrad" and arriving in 2006 with the recording of his complete symphonies. In 2004 the orchestra recorded for DECCA the complete works for strings quartet by G. Puccini and following that lots of works conducted by the R. Chailly; Rossini's arias sing by Juan Diego Florez, "Rossini discoveries" (with Laura Giordano, Ildar Abdrazakov, Michele Pertusi), "Verdi discoveries", "Puccini discoveries" (with Taigi, Calleja, Mastromarino, Urbanova, Volonté) and "Tenor Arias" sang by Joseph Calleja. In 2004 we remind also the recording of the aria "Sempre libera" from Traviata by G. Verdi with the most famous soprano in the world conducted by the great Claudio Abbado, in 2008 "Incanto" by Andrea Bocelli conducted by Steven Mercurio for Sugar Music. One of the last recording project is the one made for DECCA around all works by N. Rota.
