Sunday, 11 November 2018 HELPING THE DAREBIN FALCONS SOAR TO NEW HEIGHTS

Melbourne’s last remaining stand-alone women’s VFLW team will be able to soar to new heights thanks to the backing of a re-elected Andrews Labor Government.

With the growth in women’s footy, the Darebin Falcons are looking to the future and only Labor will back them with a $150,000 grant.

The Falcons will use the money for uniforms, training and equipment to make sure they have the winning edge against their rivals.

The Darebin Women’s Sports Club has a strong member’s base with more than 550 players across the sports of AFL, soccer, cricket and 8-ball. Former Falcons players include the AFLW’s , and .

The club was founded in 1990 and prides itself on promoting a culture of safety, friendship and fair sporting behaviour.

With these upgrades from Labor, this great local club will be able to attract even more women and girls to participate in grassroots sport.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really needs.

The Andrews Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in ’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
