Introduction

This summary shows the level of service that can be expected between 26 December-1 January inclusive.

Replacement buses are unable to carry bicycles or non-folding prams, and may depart early to maintain connections.

Many long-distance trains will be busy and passengers are advised to make seat reservations where possible. The validities of certain types of tickets may be subject to amendment during this period.

For all dates covered by this notice passengers are strongly advised to check train times before travelling, especially on those routes where engineering work is taking place.

Cross-London Connections

Saturday 26 December: Reduced service on most Underground and Docklands Light Railway routes. All services suspended between Edgware Road-Aldgate, with buses replacing trains between Paddington-Baker Street. (LT)

Monday-Wednesday 28-30 December: Modified Saturday service operates on most Underground and Docklands Light Railway routes. All services suspended between Edgware Road-Aldgate, with buses replacing trains between Paddington-Baker Street. (LT)

Thursday 31 December: Modified Saturday service operates on all Underground and Docklands Light Railway routes, with a special late night service on the Underground for New Year’s Eve celebrations. (LT)

Monday 28 December

Special timetables apply on all routes, many based on Saturday or Sunday schedules. Some minor station and routes that are normally closed on Sunday will also be closed today. Engineering work will affect services in some areas.

Liverpool Street-Southend/Southminster/East Anglia services replaced by Underground between Liverpool Street-Newbury Park and by buses between Newbury Park-Southend/ Southminster/Ingatestone. From 2100 some Ingatestone buses extended to/from Colchester. (LE)

Thursday 31 December

Modified weekday or Saturday timetables will apply on some routes, whilst other routes are affected by long-term engineering work.

From mid-day many services will run to a reduced frequency and most routes will close early. Many late night trains are cancelled, or will terminate short of their normal destinations. However, some London suburban routes will stay open after midnight for passengers travelling home after New Year’s Eve celebrations

Passengers should check times before travelling, especially for journeys after 1800.
