Bios:

1) Cote Bonneville – Kerry Shiels Kerry is the winemaker for Côte Bonneville. Her parents planted DuBrul in 1992 and were active in the early Washington industry, so it only made sense that she began making wine in middle and high school in a series of science projects. After earning her engineering degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, she worked in Torino, Italy and Chicago, Illinois in Fiat's management development program before deciding to enter the world of wine in 2005. While she was at Northwestern, Côte Bonneville was founded to showcase the distinctive grapes that are grown in DuBrul Vineyard.

Kerry has been immersed in the family businesses of DuBrul Vineyard and Côte Bonneville since the inception, but especially after leaving engineering. Recognizing the importance of quality at every step, she earned her master's degree in and Enology from UC Davis, and gained experience in California, Argentina, and Australia. She worked in all aspects of at Joseph Phelps , Folio Fine Wine Partners, Robert Mondavi , Tahbilk, and Tapiz, before returning to Côte Bonneville full time. Since 2009, she has expanded the range of beyond the Bordeaux blends and to also include , Cab Franc Rosé, , and a second label, Train Station.

2) Dunham Cellars – John Blair – President/General Manager John Blair is a lifelong Washingtonian. He graduated from Whitman College, where he witnessed the explosive growth of the Walla Walla wine industry. During that same time his family became involved with Dunham Cellars. After college he spent several years working in Seattle as a regional controller for a hotel management company. Annual trips back with friends and family for big release weekends kept him connected to the great people and wines of the Walla Walla Valley. An itch to eventually return led him to complete his MBA at the University of Washington and enter the family wine business.

John spent his first couple of years at Dunham Cellars under the tutelage of Mike Dunham before transitioning to the role of President/General Manager. He is actively involved in the community, serving as a board member and treasurer of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, and as a member of the Rotary Club of Walla Walla.

3) Dusted Valley – Corey Braunel – Winegrower/Owner Corey Braunel represents the fourth generation of his family in agriculture. Ginseng was the main crop of his family’s Northern Wisconsin farm. Corey grew up watching his father host Chinese buyers who evaluated this premium niche market crop destined for the medicine shops of Hong Kong. Corey has a business degree from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and began his career working in the financial services industry. Later, he switched to sales and marketing work with Fortune 50 medical firms where he learned about wine while entertaining clients – making selections from wine lists and educating himself through winery tourism with his good buddy and brother-in-law Chad. He then learned about , fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and moved his family to Walla Walla in 2003 to start the winery. Rejoicing, he resigned from medical sales in June of 2008.

“Being part of Dusted Valley allows me to return to my entrepreneurial farming roots. I grew up with my hands in the dirt and feel a connection to who I am when bringing our vineyards to the bottle.” “My Mother and Father laugh when they hear me say, ‘hands in the dirt…’ I hated weeding in the ginseng gardens and used to cry, ‘I wasn’t born to weed!’” They’ve had the last laugh. Corey and his wife, Cindy, have three children, Chase, Sam and Noah.

4) JM Cellar – John Bigelow – Owner/Winemaker In the fall of 1998, John and Peggy Bigelow began JM Cellars in the basement of their Seattle home which they converted into a small winery. John produced two barrels each of and with exceptional fruit sourced from Klipsun Vineyard. Encouraged by the success of their first , and the personal joy of creating something tangible, John increased their production for the 1999 to 13 barrels. The foundation of those first two set the stage for the growth and evolution of John’s hands-on winemaking technique for years to come.

Twenty-two harvests later, John has increased his annual production to 7,000 cases and developed a craft that aims to integrate new world winemaking advancements with old-world winemaking techniques. John’s craft is a dynamic one. Drawing inspiration from iconic wine regions he and Peggy have prioritized visiting (France, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, Napa Valley, Willamette Valley and Columbia Valley among others), John consistently experiments with new approaches to viticulture and winemaking whenever he tastes or experiences something new that he loves. His sense of curiosity has unveiled staple techniques, such as whole berry fermentation and aging wine in a variety of vessels. A continued interest in learning from others worldwide inspired the name of one of JM's most distinctive wines, Ancora Imparo, Italian for “Yet, I learn.”

With more than 150 JM wines having been awarded 90 points or better to date, John's reputation for crafting clean, beautifully-balanced, and approachable wines, is well deserved.

5) Long Shadows – Matthew Wollen – NW Sales & Marketing Manager Matthew Wollen came to the Long Shadows Team in 2015 taking the position of Sales and Marketing Manager with over 15 years of wine and beverage sales experience. His beginnings were in the Woodinville Tasting Room helping to take a fresh look to the overall guest experience and expand the events programs. Not long after his first-year anniversary Matthew’s efforts were transitioned to focus on wholesale responsibilities in the Greater Seattle Market and soon developed to encompass the Pacific North West and Alaska.

Previous to joining the Long Shadows Team, Matthew’s developments in and passion for the wine industry began in 1996 while working at a fine wine shop and liquor store in Fairfield Connecticut. He later moved on to take a wholesale beverage distribution position as a territory Sales Representative for North East Beverage. His horizons grew as he was stirred by the rapidly growing wine industry in his birth State of Washington and he picked up stakes and to move West with his wife Susan. The two opened and managed one of Central Washington’s premier wine shops for eight years but the ultimate desire was to work directly with a winery. That goal came to fruition in 2014 when Matthew took a job as Sale Manager for both Bunnell Family Cellar and Upland Estates with a focus on but not limited to, winery direct outside sales in the Greater Seattle Market. This experience ultimately drove him to look to growing his winery sales knowledge to broader markets which found him applying for his current position at Long Shows Vintners.

6) Sleight of Hand – Trey Busch – Winemaker/Co-Owner Trey remembers his very first concert like if was yesterday (Helix, Keel, and Accept at the Omni in Atlanta in 1984 if you are wondering). His love of music, especially Pearl Jam, is one of the reasons he ended up in the Pacific NW. After moving to Seattle in 1992 and working for Nordstrom for 8 years, Trey was offered the chance to move his family to Walla Walla and get into the wine business with the Dunham Cellars family. Eric Dunham, the winemaker and owner of Dunham Cellars, gave Trey the foundation for his winemaking and philosophy. Trey fell in love with the winemaking process on the first day of crush in September of 2000, and that journey led him to Sleight of Hand Cellars.

Trey is in charge of, and oversees, the winemaking, keeping his finger on the pulse of what is happening in the vineyards and cellar. He also shares the sales and marketing duties with Jerry, traveling to far-away places to spread the Sleight of Hand love around the country. Trey also is a world renowned Air Guitar player, and will often be found at a local karaoke bar belting out Tom Petty or Pearl Jam. He has two amazing daughters that he loves more than anything and can't believe how lucky he is to have ended up in this business with Jerry and Sandy.
