SPEAKERS’ PROFILES

PROF. DR. WOLFGANG GAEBEL, Professor of , President of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf, and Medical Director of the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf, Director of the LVR-Institute for Mental Healthcare Research (LVR-IVF) and the WHO Collaborating Center on Quality Management and Empowerment in Mental Health. During his career, Professor Gaebel has held positions as President of the German Society of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Nervous Diseases (DGPPN). Furthermore, he was President of the German Society of (DGBP). He is currently chairman of the WPA Section on Schizophrenia as well as chairman of the WPA Section on Quality Assurance. Since 2009 he is Board Member of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), co-chair of the Section on Schizophrenia and he coordinates the EPA Guidance Project. Since 2015 he is President of the EPA. He is also chairman of the German Alliance on Mental Health. His research focus includes clinical, pharmacological, and neurophysiological aspects of schizophrenia, experimental psychopathology and classification, treatment guidelines and quality management, and research on stigma and discrimination. His current interest is also on the revision of classification towards ICD-11 and DSM-5. Professor Gaebel has published more than 700 scientific articles, he is editor/author of about 50 books/supplements on a range of scientific topics, he is member of the editorial boards of various national/international journals, and editor in chief of the bilingual journal "Die Psychiatrie".

PROF. ROY ABRAHAM KALLIVAYALIL, Secretary General of the World Psychiatric Association (2014-2020), President Elect of the World Association of Social Psychiatry, Professor & Head, Department of Psychiatry, Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Thiruvalla, India. He was President Indian Psychiatric Society from 2012-13, during which time he made concerted efforts to make Psychiatry as an important subject in the UG training and brought in revised IPS Guidelines for PG training in Psychiatry. He was earlier Chairman Board of Examiners and a member of the Senate of the Mahatma Gandhi and Cochin Universities in India. He has several research publications in national and international Journals.

PROF. ZURAB I. KEKELIDZE, Chief Psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Director General of the Serbsky Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and , Vice-President of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists (RSP), MD, Professor. Prof. Kekelidze is a Head of the Department of Social and of Sechenov 1st MSMU, member of the RF Ministry of Health Scientific Council Presidium, representative of Russia in the WHO in psychiatry, member of the advisory council of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, chief editor of ‘Russian Psychiatry Journal’, Vice-president of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists (RSP), psychiatrist, psychotherapist, anesthesiologist, psychologist, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Honored Doctor of Russia. Introducer of the concepts ‘psychoreanimatology’, ‘critical conditions’, ‘cerebrogenic shock’ into Psychiatry. Winner of the prize ‘Prizvanie’ (‘Vocaion’) (2000) for the creation of a new field of science – psychoreanimatology, for the creation of services of psychological and psychiatric care in emergency situations (2011), who first described a new disease ‘biographical amnesia’ and developed the principles of its treatment. Under his supervision, 14 candidate’s and 2 doctoral dissertation were defended; he is author and co-author of over 150 research works, among them 14 monographs, including Psychiatry Guide (international edition) (1988), Critical States in Psychiatry (1997), Psychiatry of Emergency Situations (2004), National Guide to Psychiatry (2009), Social Psychiatry Manual (2009), Human-induced Mental and Behavioral disorders (2009). He was awarded the Order of Honour, a number of medals and the MOE sign ‘For Merit’.

PROF. VLADIMIR I. BORODIN, Vice-president of the Union for Mental Health of Russia, senior psychiatrist, psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, member of the Council on Social Psychiatry, MD, Professor of the Academic Services of the Serbsky Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology, member of the Academic Council of the Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Research interests are theory and practice of psychotherapy and borderline mental disorders. Prof. Borodin is the author of 91 scientific papers (some of them are published in the foreign journals and collections of studies), chapters in monographs and in child psychiatry reference books.

PROF. SAGAT A. ALTYNBEKOV, President of the Association of Mental Health Professionals of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Head of the Department on Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Narcology of the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, Director of the Republican Scientific & Practical Center of Psychiatrics, Psychotherapy and Narcology of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, MD. Prof. Altynbekov has published 5 monographs, textbooks, over 100 scientific articles and other books, among which the most significant are ‘All About Drug Addiction in Kazakhstan’, Pavlodar 2002; ‘Organization of Drug Addiction Treatment in the Republic of Kazakhstan’, Karaganda

MOROZOV, Board member and Zonal representative of the World Psychiatric Association for Eastern Europe, Vice-President of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists, Ambassador of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology in Russia, Member of the Сouncil of the European Psychiatric Association, Editor - in - Chief of the P.B.Gannushkin Journal "Psychiatry and psychopharmacotherapy", Editor–in-Chief of the "The Psychiatric Diary", MD, PhD, Dr.Sci, Professor; Department of Psychiatry, Faculty for Advanced Medical Studies, N.I.Pirogov Russian National Medical Research University, Moscow. Prof. Morozov is an author and editor of more than 250 publications and books, member of the Committee of Experts on developing a Council of Europe mental health reference tool (SP-MNH); Editor-in-chief of Psychiatry and Psychopharmacotherapy ‘P.B. Gannushkin Journal’, ‘Psychiatric Diary’. Prof. Morozov was awarded by Kraepelin–Alzheimer Medal of the University of Munich, Germany.

PROF. TATIANA I. GALAKO, President of the Kyrgyz Psychiatric Association, Head of the Chair on Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Narcology of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, Associate Professor of the Chair on Medical , Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Kyrgyz-Russian (Slavonic) University, Head of the Expert Council of the Kyrgyzstan Republican Center for Mental Health. Prof. Galako is an author of more than 70 scientific publications and also a member of the international board of the journal ‘Psychiatry and after P.B. Gannushkina’. Her scientific publications and interests in the field of psychiatry include ethno-cultural aspects of psychiatry, the problem of treatment resistance and irrational use of psychotropic drugs, integrating awareness of mental health issues in primary health care, problems with psychiatric education and the dissemination of information.

DR. ARMEN F. SOGOYAN, Honorary Member of the World Psychiatric Association, Secretary of Finance of the WPA, President of the Armenian Psychiatric Association, Head of the RA Agency on Medical & Social Expertise, Research Director of the Center for Psychosocial Regulation, Editor in Chief of the Armenian Mental Health Journal, Vice-President of the Armenian Medical Association, Assistant Professor at the Department on Psychiatry at the Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, PhD in Medicine. He graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of Yerevan State Medical University; medical residency of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology of Yerevan State Medical University. He defended his candidate’s dissertation in 2003, is author and co-author of over 50 publications. He worked as head of the Department of Health care and Social Welfare of the Yerevan city administration; deputy director of the Medical Center of Psychiatry; Head of the Licensing Agency of the RA Ministry of Health; Director of the Center for Psychosocial Regulation. Worked as the secretary of the Armenian Psychiatric

Association; representative of the World Psychiatric Association in Eastern Europe; Vice-President of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations.

PROF. OLEG A. SKUGAREVSKY, CEO of the Belorussian Psychiatric Association, Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology of the Belarusian State Medical University, MD, Professor. Member of the expert council of the HAC of the Republic of Belarus in Psychiatry, deputy chairman of the Council for the defense of dissertations in public health and health care (BelMAPO), deputy chairman of the Belarusian Psychiatric Association, member of the Belarusian Psychotherapeutic Association, member of the editorial board of the journals ‘Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology’, ‘Psychiatry’. He has the highest medical qualification category. Conducts a great job on improving the teaching of neurosciences at BSMU, on the introduction of new techniques in the educational process and practice of training of doctors. Author of over 150 research papers. . PROF. EKA CHKONIA, President of the Society of Georgian Psychiatrists, an ECNP ambassador in Georgia, Professor of psychiatry at Tbilisi State Medical University, Clinical Director of the Center for Mental Health in Tbilisi, MD. Since 1999, she has carried out and leaded many collaborative research projects with German, Swiss and Britain colleagues in clinical and social psychiatry and published more than 65 scientific articles in the high ranked medical journals. She has been awarded with JFDP Junior Faculty Development Program Fellowship at Rutgers University (US, 2010) and Alberto Vilar Medical Internship at the General Hospital (AKH) in Vienna in 2003 and 2012. She has received research grants from the Royal society, Volkswagen Foundation, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), The National Centre of Competence in Research (Swiss National Science foundation) and from other national and international foundations.

PROF. NADIR V. ISMAYILOV, President of the Azerbaijan Psychiatric Association, Professor of the Department of Psychiatry at the Azerbaijan Medical University, Honored Doctor of the Azerbaijan Republic, MD. Prof. Ismayilov is an author of more than 200 scientific papers, 6 books, including 4 editions of textbooks on Psychiatry and 2 editions of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. As a Chairman of the working group took part in formation of "Psychiatric Assistance" Act in the Azerbaijan Republic and other national documents on mental health policies.

NAZIRA I. KHODZHAEVA, Vice-President of the Uzbek Society of Psychiatrists, Professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology of the Tashkent Medical Academy. 5 candidate's and 1 doctoral dissertations were defended under her supervision. She has published more than 200 research articles and has been the author of a textbook on psychiatry, a number of patents for more than 15 years. Deputy chairwoman of the Academic Council on dissertations.

EVGENIYA SINITSA, Head of the Department of Research and Development at the National Center for Mental Health of the Republic of Moldova, envoy of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology in the Republic of Moldova, Master of Sciences, lecturer and national trainer in the national health care reform, coordinator of international clinical trials.

PROF. ANATOLY B. SMULEVICH, M.D., Ph.D., Sc.D., RAS academician, Professor. Head of the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Mental Disorders at Mental Health Research Center, Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine of the Institute of Postgraduate Education at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Chair of the Panel for Psychosomatic Disorders of the General Committee of Russian Psychiatric Society, WHO expert on the issues of mental disorders, and Editor-in-chief of the journal «Mental Disorders in General Medicine». Professor A.B. Smulevich has borne the title of Meritorious Scientist of the Russian Federation since 2001. He was awarded with the Order of Honor in 2006, with a Russian Academy of Sciences Certificate of Merit in 1996 and 1999, and with President’s Certificate of Merit in 2012. Professor A.B.Smulevich has authored more than 400 scientific works, among them a series of monographs on relevant issues of mental health, including various aspects of psychopathology, classification and treatment. He has supervised the completion of 75 PhD theses (including 15 Sc.D. theses).

VSEVOLOD A. ROZANOV, Mechnikov Odessa National University, MD, Professor. A specialist in the field of public health and development of preventive strategies, author of over 200 research papers on the problems of mental health, suicide prevention, genetics, neurobiology and behavior. Supervises the NGO ‘Ecological Human Health’, which for many years has been engaged in the development and implementation of international projects in the field of prevention of mental health disorders, promotion of positive practices in this area. UNICEF expert, member of numerous international associations, author of educational programs in the field of human mental health and ecology.

TATYIANA P. KLIUSHNIK, Director of FSBRI "Research Center for Mental Health", PhD in Medicine, Professor, graduated from the Pirogov 2nd Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute specializing as a physician-biochemist; since 1991, she had been Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biochemistry (Neuroimmunology), since March, 2015, she has been its Director. Research interests - neuroscience, neuroimmunology, biological markers of mental illness.

VERA E. GOLIMBET, Head of the FSBRI NCMH Laboratory of Clinical Genetics, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor. Author of more than 150 articles published in peer-reviewed research journals in the field of genetics of mental illness. Member of a number of international research programs. Head of the grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation, the FP7 Framework Programme of the European Commission. Research interests include molecular genetics of psychiatric manifestations, , pharmacogenetics. Laboratory of Clinical Genetics is a leading research unit in the Russian Federation, which comprehensively examines the molecular genetic background of different human mental manifestations, the search of genetic variants associated with an increased risk of development of such socially significant mental illnesses as schizophrenia and mood disorders is carried out, one of the world's largest collections of DNA of patients with endogenous psychoses has been gathered.

LIUDMILA N. GOROBETS, Director of the Department of psychiatric endocrinology at the Moscow Research Institute of Psychiatry – branch of the FSBI "Serbsky Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology'' of the Russian Ministry of Health, Doctor of Medicine, Professor. L. Gorobets is author of over 280 research publications, including the monograph "Neuroendocrine dysfunction and neuroleptic therapy", chapters in the monographs "Psychoneuroendocrinology", "Rational psychopharmacotherapy in psychiatric practice. Guide for practitioners", "Psychiatry. Reference of a practitioner", 3 collections of research articles on problems of psychiatric endocrinology, 4 methodical manuals for doctors on diagnostics, correction and prevention of neuroendocrine dysfunction in psychiatric patients during antipsychotic treatment.

EVGENY MH. KRUPITSKY, Chief narcologist of the Leningrad Oblast, Head of the Department on Narcology at the Bekhterev Research Psychoneurological Institute, Chief of the Laboratory on Clinical Psychopharmacology of Addictions at the St. Petersburg State Pavlov Medical University, MD, Professor. Since 2006 he also holds a position of Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Krupitsky received several national and international awards including European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Fellowship Award (1997), Heffter Research Institute Award for Outstanding Research in Hallucinogens (2000), Award of the Government of Russian Federation for Outstanding Research in Medicine (2005), and National Institute Drug Abuse (NIDA) Award for Excellence in International Leadership. Dr. Krupitsky has been a Co-PI on several NIDA and NIAAA grants.

DR. AFZAL JAVED, MBBS, MCPS, D. PSYCH (LONDON), BOARD CERT.PSYCH (UK), F.R.C.Psych. (UK), M. PHIL (EDINBURGH), FRCP (Ireland), Secretary for Sections World Psychiatric Association (WPA), Immediate Past President World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WAPR). Dr. Afzal Javed is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust at Nuneaton. He is an Honorary Clinical Associate Teacher at Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick UK. He also holds the position of Chairman Pakistan Psychiatric Research Centre, Fountain House, Lahore (Pakistan). He has served the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists as Deputy / Associate Registrar& member Board of International Affairs of the College.

SOLOKHINA, Head of the department of socio- demographic and economic psychiatry problems of the department of the FSBRI RCMH psychiatry, mental health services organization, member of the Public Mental Health Council under Head psychiatry specialist of the RF Ministry of Health, executive director of the Regional charitable public organization "Family and mental health", Doctor of Medicine. Author of over 150 research papers on the scientific bases of the organization of mental health care, the mental health care quality problem, psychosocial rehabilitation, mental health economics. She participated in the preparation of guidelines and manuals designed for practical psychiatric institutions professionals, as well as popular-scientific publications for mental health care users. She is an active supporter of the formation of public mental health care sector, actively participated in the creation of civil society organizations in psychiatry.

ARMEN E. MELIK-PASHAIAN, Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Geraci Erevan State Medical University, Doctor of Medicine, professor, chairman of the specialized Subcouncil on , Psychiatry and Medical Psychology, representative of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) in Armenia, author of 76 research publications, including study guides, monographs and a textbook.

SHMUKLER, Highest category psychiatrist, Chief Scientist of the Moscow Research Institute of Psychiatry, branch of the FSBI "Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Addiction" of the RF Ministry of Health, Doctor of Medicine, Professor. KLIMENKO, Director of the Research Institute for Narcology - a branch of the Serbsky Federal Medical Research Center of Psychiatry and Narcology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, professor of the Russian Law Academy of the Ministry of Justice of Russia and the Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafin, MD. Leading expert in the country on legal and ethical issues of the organization of substance abuse treatment. Under her leadership, the domestic scientific school of forensic and psychiatric narcology was established. She is the author of over 300 research works, 3 monographs, 2 textbooks and manuals on forensic psychiatry. 14 candidate’s and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended under her supervision.

GEORGE WOODY, MD, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania (USA). Graduated from Amherst College in 1960, trained in medicine and psychiatry at Temple University in Philadelphia, was a general medical officer in the Navy, and has worked in the narcology research and treatment program at the Philadelphia Veterans Hospital and University of Pennsylvania since 1971. He has participated in treatment studies in the U.S., Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Republic of Georgia, Indonesia, and Iceland; and was awarded a Doctor Sui Causa from Pavlov State Medical University, an award in honor of Dr. Alexei Likhachev, and the McGovern award for contributions to addiction treatment and research.
