Its functions will include framing the syllabi for various courses, reviewing and updating syllabi from time to time, introducing new courses of study, determining details of continuous assessment, for evaluation under the semester system, etc. Following is the the composition and functions of the Board of Studies. a). Composition: Core committee resolved to appoint First Degree Board of Studies with four members and one Chairman, BOS. The composition of First Degree Board of Studies is as follows 1. The senior teacher (faculty member) from the department of the subject or allied department from the affiliated college of the university shall be appointed as Chairman BOS. 2. The Chairmanship shall be rotated on the basis of seniority from Government, aided and ratified post in unaided colleges. Each teacher serving as Chairman for a term of two years. 3. Not less than four members, of whom one shall be the Head or Coordinator or BOS of the university department of department of the subject or subjects which the Board is constituted. b) Term :The term of the nominated members shall be two years. c). Meeting : 1. By the direction of Honourable Vice-chancellor, the Dean, College Developmental council, shall draw the schedule for meeting of the Board of Studies for different departments. The meeting may be scheduled as and when necessary, but at least once a year as are fixed by the Vice Chancellor. 2. The Chairman of the Board shall ordinarily preside over the meeting. If, for serious reason, the Chairman is not able to attend the meeting, the members present at the meeting shall elect the Chairman from among themselves, giving credence to seniority, to preside over that meeting. .
