Configurable Parameters

Battery Parameters

The following configurable parameters allow you to adjust low battery level warning messages. By default, low battery warnings for the 7527 device begin when its battery's remaining capacity reaches 30 percent.

Note: The registry location [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Vocollect\Vocollect Voice Client\DeviceSpecific] must be placed above the following parameters in order to function. Placing other parameters below this area may cause them to not function. Be sure that any modifications to your configuration file take into account the location of previously used registry parameters and the registry locations under which they must reside.

BatteryLowWarningPct This parameter controls the battery level reading that triggers the first battery warnings spoken to an operator. Default = 30

BatteryCriticalLowPct This parameter controls the battery level reading that triggers the final battery warning spoken to an operator. Default = 8

BatteryPollingIntervalMSecs This parameter controls how often Vocollect Voice polls the power level of the battery attached to a device. It is recommended to use default values for this parameter. Default = 58000 (58 seconds)

Printer and Scanner Parameters

By default, Metrologic scanners add a carriage return and line feed () to the end of all scanned barcodes. This can cause some barcodes to be read incorrectly.

WapScanRemoveCrLf Adding this parameter to the device's configuration file prohibits the Metrologic scanner from adding a carriage return and line feed to the end of all scanned barcodes. After adding the parameter, tap Tools | Exit, and then restart Vocollect Voice to activate the new setting.

Accepted values:

file:///C:/techpubs/VoiceSoftwareGuide_Flare/Content/ReleaseNotes/VoiceClientMP/Vocollect_VoiceClient_1_1_for_WORKABOUTPRO_7527_Rele… 2/14 11/16/2018 Vocollect VoiceClient 1.1 for Psion Teklogix WORKABOUT PRO 7527 0 (default) 1 ( is removed from scans)

PrinterPort This parameter identifies to VoiceConsole the port on your device to which your printer's messages are sent. When setting up a Bluetooth printer, you must match the COM setting identified in VoiceConsole with the device's printer COM port. X represents the number of the COM port identified on your device's screen, so be sure to enter the correct number when applying this setting.

Accepted values:

Red (used for T-Series wearable computers or handheld devices that support serial printers) Blue (used for T-Series wearable computers or handheld devices that support serial printers) COMx (used for 7527 devices with Bluetooth printers) BSPx (used for 7527 devices with Bluetooth printers)

back to top General Considerations and Limitations

Polish and Greek are not support on WORKABOUT PRO devices running Windows CE 5.0.

When another application running on the device takes focus away from Vocollect Voice, or when Vocollect Voice is minimized, Vocollect Voice enters sleep mode.

The 7527 device contains a backup battery that protects your data in case the device’s primary battery fails. To get the best performance from your backup battery, before using your device for the first time, 1. Activate the backup battery. To do so, remove the main battery from the compartment and slide the switch under it to the On position. 2. Charge the device for 12 straight hours in order to fully charge the backup battery.

When performing enrollment training, you may find it useful to use the configurable parameter, TrainEnrollmentAudibleOnly. Setting this value to =1 allows the operator to train templates by speaking prompts that they hear spoken through their headset rather than by reading prompts from the device's screen.

[11005] A device may speak the task number when it should speak the task name. Workaround: Say, “Say again.”

[11075] Upon starting up Vocollect Voice for the first time after it was installed, the LED indicator on the device's display may not appear to be lit properly. The next time you perform an action that changes the device's status, the LED updates to the proper setting.

[11043] If a device is removed from maintenance mode or a charger while a task is loading, the device's LED flashes green, but no beep is heard until the task is fully loaded to the device. This may mislead the operator into thinking both a task and operator have been loaded. Workaround: Wait until you hear the "Task load complete" message, the status LED flashes red, and the device beeps. If an operator was already loaded prior to task load, it automatically reloads to the device. If no operator was loaded prior to task load, you must load one manually.

[11169] Do not reboot a device while DFU is taking place. If you do, the firmware will become corrupt, rendering the device unusable.

[11198] When replacing the battery in a device, it is possible that some of your task data could be lost if you do not change the battery in the correct manner. To change your battery during your shift without losing data from your task, perform the following steps: 1. Power off your WORKABOUT PRO. 2. Slide the two clips on the back of the WORKABOUT PRO to the unlock position. 3. Open the battery cover and remove the battery. 4. Place a charged battery into the battery compartment. 5. Replace the cover and slide the clips back to the locked position.

file:///C:/techpubs/VoiceSoftwareGuide_Flare/Content/ReleaseNotes/VoiceClientMP/Vocollect_VoiceClient_1_1_for_WORKABOUTPRO_7527_Rele… 4/14 11/16/2018 Vocollect VoiceClient 1.1 for Psion Teklogix WORKABOUT PRO 7527 Note: When you are working, do not allow the device to remain without a battery for an extended period of time.

[11208] When pairing a new Bluetooth printer with a device that is already paired with another printer, you must exit and restart Vocollect Voice before pairing the new printer. If you do not, the original printer remains paired with the device. Workaround: Always tap Tools | Exit, and then restart Vocollect Voice before pairing a new Bluetooth printer.

[11209] When a device running Windows Mobile 6 has internal logging enabled, the device may take up to one minute and 30 seconds to fully shut down properly. This is due to the concurrent closure of several actions running on the device.

[11213] When installing VoiceClient on a device running Windows CE, the .cab file is not deleted during installation. The .cab file is small and can be left on the device.

[11220] When using a device running Windows CE with a paired Bluetooth scanner, the scanner might not automatically reconnect after the device has been inactive for a period of time. Workaround: Perform a warm boot of the device by pressing and holding the blue FN button and red ENTER button on the device for ten seconds.

[11240] If a scanner and printer are mistakenly assigned to the same COM port on a device, the scanner may scan barcodes incorrectly. Workaround: Before assigning a printer COM port in VoiceConsole, check the COM port assigned to the scanner so you do not assign the same one to the printer.

[11242] When removing a device from standby mode, it may take about 20 seconds for the device to become fully active.

[11246] If your task is supposed to print to a printer and the printer is powered off, pending print jobs queue but do not automatically print when you power the printer on. Workaround: You must restart Vocollect Voice in order for the pending print jobs to print. To do so, tap Tools | Exit, and then restart Vocollect Voice.

[11247] When using continuous sockets, a transaction with 514 bytes causes Vocollect Voice to enter an unresponsive state. Workaround: Insert or at the end as socket terminators so the transaction has more than 514 bytes.

[11248] Numeric fields in a LUT do not support more than 18 digits. Any digits beyond the eighteenth are disregarded and some data is lost.

[11254] By default, a new device in VoiceConsole is listed under the Unassigned category. Loading a new device profile does not update the device's site location and the device remains in the Unassigned category. Workaround : In VoiceConsole, manually change the site in the device's profile. See VoiceConsole Online Help for details.

[11268] When serial debug logging is enabled, debug output is stopped if the device enters standby mode. Workaround: Remove the device from standby mode, exit Vocollect Voice by tapping Tools | Exit, restart Vocollect Voice, and then restart serial debug logging.

At the end of your shift, disconnect any active Bluetooth pairing so that peripheral is free to pair with another device. To do so, deactivate the Enable Bluetooth or Turn on Bluetooth checkbox. If the peripheral with which you are trying to pair does not show up on the list of devices within range, that peripheral may already be paired with another device. Workaround: Disconnect the pairing and scan for the desired peripheral again. A Bluetooth scanner should beep when it pairs with a device. If you do not hear a tone, restart the WORKABOUT PRO.

Installing Vocollect VoiceClient on Psion Teklogix devices

Uninstalling Vocollect VoiceClient from Psion Teklogix devices Installing Vocollect VoiceClient

You must install files from the VoiceClient CD and load a configuration only device profile on to a device so the device can communicate with management software when the application is running. There are two procedures: initial configuration (the first time you install a VoiceClient file and load a configuration file to a device) and configuration update (changing a device's configuration file).

Installation of the full VoiceClient product requires a minimum of 12 Mb and a maximum of 100 Mb of available disk space. The actual disk space occupied by this product and the amount of temporary disk space required during installation and use will vary depending on how many of the localized versions of the application are installed and used.

Note: Vocollect recommends uninstalling all Vocollect Voice applications before installing this version of VoiceClient.

Note: The following procedures describe how to install VoiceClient on both Windows Mobile and Windows CE devices. Most steps are the same for both devices. Be sure to select the files that are compatible with your operating system.

Initial Configuration: Installing Management Software and Vocollect VoiceClient

IMPORTANT: VoiceClient 1.1 for Psion Teklogix WORKABOUT PRO is only supported on Vocollect VoiceConsole 2.2 or newer.

Note: Make sure that your handheld synchronization software, such as Microsoft® ActiveSync®, is installed. Vocollect recommends that you connect the cradle for the handheld device to the that you are using to install these applications with a USB connector and then cradle the device.

Note: You can establish a serial cable or RF connection between your synchronization tool and the device in order to install Vocollect software, if you wish to do so. Vocollect recommends the use of a USB cable for speed and simplicity.

To install VoiceClient 1.1, perform the following steps:

1. Install VoiceConsole 2.2 or newer. 2. Create a folder in a location that is easy to access (for example, the desktop or a folder you have created) and name the folder appropriately. You will copy files from the Vocollect Voice for Handheld Devices CD- ROM to this folder. 3. Place the Vocollect Voice for Handheld Devices CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 4. Open the CD.

A list of .cab files and executables displays.

5. Select all files (executables, .cab, .ddf, and .vrg files) and copy them to the folder you created in step 2. Close the CD-ROM. file:///C:/techpubs/VoiceSoftwareGuide_Flare/Content/ReleaseNotes/VoiceClientMP/Vocollect_VoiceClient_1_1_for_WORKABOUTPRO_7527_Rele… 8/14 11/16/2018 Vocollect VoiceClient 1.1 for Psion Teklogix WORKABOUT PRO 7527 6. Determine which languages are to be installed at your site. See Language Indicators for supported languages and their extensions. You must have the appropriate license for each language in use at your site. See VoiceConsole online help for details about licenses.

Note: Steps 7 through 15 are for installations using Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5.0. If you are using a different synchronization tool, see Other Synchronization Tools.

7. Open the folder, and find the .cab file for the language at your site in the list of files that displays. 8. Drag the appropriate .cab file (for example, WAP7527_CE_VVoiceCabInstall_en_US.cab) onto the executable VocollectVoiceInstaller.exe.

The Installing Applications dialog box displays asking whether to install Vocollect Voice using the default application install directory.

9. In the Installing Applications dialog box, click Yes to install Vocollect Voice to the default location.

Note: You must click Yes. You cannot install the voice application to any other directory, nor can you install the voice application to the RAM Disk.

Installation of the full VoiceClient application on a device running Windows CE requires a minimum of 18 Mb flash and 18 Mb RAM. Installation of the full VoiceClient application on a device running Windows Mobile requires a minimum of 36 Mb flash.

11. In VoiceConsole, create a device profile with the VoiceConsole URL. When you have created the device profile, export the profile from VoiceConsole to a location that is easy to remember and easy to access (for example, the desktop or a folder you have created). See VoiceConsole online help for details about creating and exporting a device profile. 12. Open the folder you created in step 2. Find the device profile (profilename.vrg) you created in step 11, and drag it into PTX7527CEConfigFileInstaller.exe for devices running Windows CE, or PTX7527WMConfigFileInstaller.exe for devices running Windows Mobile.

The Installing Applications dialog box displays.

13. Click Yes in the Installing Applications dialog box.

The executable loads the device profile onto the handheld device. When finished, the Application Downloading Complete dialog box displays.

14. Click OK.

To install the voice application on a second device using ActiveSync:

1. Remove the first device from the cradle and cradle the second device. 2. On your desktop, open Microsoft ActiveSync. 3.
