Volume 34 Number 1 www.fsbgc.org Winter 2020 Hunts Park Project Nears Completion With donors providing generous support, Club officials are anxiously awaiting the completion of the $2.5 million Hunts Park renovation project. Scheduled to be completed during Spring 2020, the initial announcement of the project was made at a press conference on January 17, 2019 with First National Bank providing a $1 million lead gift. Beshears Construction is the general contractor for the project. Forsgren Inc. is providing earthwork and field prep, and Frontier Engineering is supervising turf installation. “This is an experienced construction team” said FSBGC executive director Jerry Glidewell. “We will be able to use this multi-purpose facility for baseball, football (flag & tackle) soccer and cheer” he added. JANICE H. & ROBERT M. PO ELL Jerry Kerwin – died November 23, 2019. He served on the Fort Smith Boys & MS. PEARL ELIZABETH AMIER MR. ROBERT BOBB S. MEEK JR. Girls Club board of directors for 58 years and was board secretary for 49 years. Kerwin sponsored an American Legion baseball team at the Club for 41 years, coached the Optimist baseball team for 30 years, coached the Boys Club Rams ROBERT A. OUNG IV MEMORIAL football team for 6 years and was past chairman of the Golden Gloves boxing program. He was elected to the Boys Club board in 1958. BOBB NEEDHAM SR. MEMORIAL Robert S. Meek Jr. – passed away on November 6, 2019. He served on the MR. BOBB NEEDHAM JR. Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club board of directors for 26 years. Meek was a h member of the College Scholarship committee and took great pride in helping

Earlier in his life Bob was a h t page at the Washington Office of Senator William J. Fulbright. He graduated from Fort Smith High School and Davidson College and served with distinction in the o y f Vietnam war. Bob worked as co-general partner of Coca-Cola Bottling Company HONORARIUMS: in Fort Smith. He is remembered as a quiet and generous man who considered his colleagues as family. Bob is survived by his sister Sallie Meek Hunter, two nieces h and two nephews.
MR. ORVILLE BITTLE tt Philip “Droop” Willcoxon – age 69, died on October 18, 2019. He was a life-long resident of Fort Smith and a member of the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club Alumni MR. & MRS. BRUCE CASELMAN MR. & MRS. ILLIAM J. COOPER Association for the past 28 years. He was an outstanding athlete at Southside MRS.
