Lyrics:

A song runs over head and tail credits. The song gets its full outing over the tail credits, and those are the lyrics below.

Cultists will be pleased to discover that Timothy B. Schmit, of fame, and later member of The , provided the guitar (Schmit has a detailed wiki here). Lyrics as heard in the film:

(after a short intro)

There's a new world out there Coming to find me Everything's waiting up ahead Nothing's behind me If I don't dream If I don't try How will I know how far I'll fly? There may be mountain peaks I'm gunna slide down … There may be rivers fast and wide … I'm gunna ride down … If I don't dream … If I don't try … How will I know how far I'll fly? High flying and free … The sun's rising for me … I see cities behind the rooftops …. Oceans beyond the sea … I'll fly, up to another sky … No one has travelled so far … Out to a faraway star … Maybe farther … And when my life begins I'm gunna be there Wonder what gleaming, shining light I'm gunna see there I've got to dream I've got to try I gotta know how far I'll fly ...

(guitar-led instrumental interlude)

There's a new world out there Coming to find me Everything's waiting up ahead Nothing's behind me I've got to dream I've gotta try I gotta know how far I'll fly I gotta know how far I'll ffflllyyyy …

A different score was used for the Japanese version, composed and orchestrated by Michiru Oshima: Composer Bill Conti:

US composer Bill Conti had a few connections with the Australian industry, having done the score for the big budget Coolangatta Gold.

He also formed a relationship with director Mario Andreacchio, returning to do the score for the 1997 parrot comedy, The Real McCaw.

Conti is too well-known to dwell on at length, especially as he is essentially an American film composer, with many scores to his credit (Rocky being the one that most made his name).

Conti has a detailed wiki here.

(Below: Bill Conti) When he landed in Australia to work on Coolangatta Gold, Conti immediately attracted media attention, as with this story in the Sydney Morning Herald on 17th September 1984:
