A run-scoring wild pitch added a tally to the Cardinals advantage in the 6th, making it 5-2. Tulsa plated one in the 9th with a solo home run from 3B Errol Robinson, but RHP Seth Elledge avoided any further damage and closed the 5-3 win. • Weekly Notes 072817
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WEEKLY NOTES FRIDAY, JULY 28, 2017 BLACKMON WORKING TOWARD HISTORIC SEASON On Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Coors Field, Colorado Rockies All-Star outfi elder Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and his 24th home run of the season. With the round-tripper, Blackmon recorded his 57th extra-base hit on the season, which include 20 doubles, 13 triples and his aforementioned 24 home runs. Pacing the Majors in triples, Blackmon trails only his teammate, All-Star Nolan Arenado for the most extra-base hits (60) in the Majors. Blackmon is looking to become the fi rst Major League player to log at least 20 doubles, 20 triples and 20 home runs in a single season since Curtis Granderson (38-23-23) and Jimmy Rollins (38-20-30) both accomplished the feat during the 2007 season. Since 1901, there have only been seven 20-20-20 players, including Granderson, Rollins, Hall of Famers George Brett (1979) and Willie Mays (1957), Jeff Heath (1941), Hall of Famer Jim Bottomley (1928) and Frank Schulte, who did so during his MVP-winning 1911 season. Charlie would become the fi rst Rockies player in franchise history to post such a season. If the season were to end today, Blackmon’s extra-base hit line (20-13-24) has only been replicated by 34 diff erent players in MLB history with Rollins’ 2007 season being the most recent. It is the fi rst stat line of its kind in Rockies franchise history. Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig is the only player in history to post such a line in four seasons (1927-28, 30-31).

  • 2021 GOLDEN BAY ROTISSERIE LEAGUE BASEBALL Press Release Number 1140 – September 28, 2021
2021 GOLDEN BAY ROTISSERIE LEAGUE BASEBALL Press Release Number 1140 – September 28, 2021 http://www.sobaysports.com/roto/ Week twenty-six is complete and with one short week to go, some spots in the standings have been decided while others are still up for grabs. TOM’S THUMBS appear to have clinched the 2021 title as they are up to 95 points and have a nine and a half point cushion over the next closest team. The now second place MICHAEL’S MAULTERS lead a group of three teams separated by just one and a half points. The MAULTERS, the ROBIN HOODS, and MEYER’S FLYERS will finish second, third, and fourth, but the order remains to be seen. There is lots of sway in the categories for each team so anything can happen. Another nine and a half points back is our current fifth place team, the GARDEN PARITERS. The PARTIERS have been hot of late, but it is just too little, too late. The PARTIERS will attempt to hold off WILLIAM’S CONQUERORS and the ARTFUL DODGERS for the coveted first pick in the pre-auction draft. Finally, in the race to stay out of the cellar, the FARGIN ICEHOLES have overtaken BART’S TRANSBAY TUBES by two and a half points. The best hitting in the league belongs to TOM’S THUMBS with 52 points. WILLIAM’S CONQUERORS enjoy the best pitching in the league with 50 points. The big gainers for the week were MICHAEL’S MAULTERS (+4) who jumped from fourth place into second, the ROBIN HOODS (+2.5) who remained in third place, and the DOUGH BOYS (+2) who remained in ninth place.

Cincinnati Reds Press Clippings March 19, 2016 THIS DAY IN REDS HISTORY 2014 - A Cactus League game between the Reds and Royals is abruptly stopped in the 6th inning when Reds closer Aroldis Chapman is struck in the face by a line drive off the bat of Salvador Perez. Chapman is taken off the field on a stretcher, with fractures above his eye and in his nose, as well as multiple lacerations. The two managers then elect not to continue play, with the blessing of home plate umpire Chris Guccione. MLB.COM Adam Duvall, Tyler Holt bookend Reds' win By Adam McCalvy / MLB.com | @AdamMcCalvy | March 18th, 2016 + 166 COMMENTS PHOENIX -- Adam Duvall had three hits for the Reds, including a long, two-run home run, and Chris Carter hit his third homer for the Brewers as the teams battled back and forth Friday at Maryvale Baseball Park. The Reds ultimately prevailed, 7-6. Carter hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a tying triple in the fifth and Rymer Liriano lifted a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the sixth as part of a middle-inning comeback for the Brewers, who had won four of their previous five games. But the Reds quickly tied the game at 5 in the seventh inning on Jake Cave's two-out single. Duvall, a candidate for Cincinnati's left field vacancy who manned third base in this game, homered to cap the Reds' three-run first inning. Joey Votto also delivered an RBI single in the inning, but all three runs were unearned against Brewers starter Chase Anderson because of an error charged to left fielder Ryan Braun.
