All students applying for must include the following with their application.

1. Completed Selective Schools Application Form available on the Selective High School website: https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/years- 8-to-12

2. English writing piece of maximum 600 words (handwritten – not typed):

Year 8 – 9 Essay Topic What have we learned about ourselves during the Covid-19 pandemic? In your response, you may want to discuss this from a personal, family, community and/or global level.

Year 10 Essay Topic The current crisis has highlighted the disparity between Australia’s commitment to, and valuing of, the arts and sport. What is your own response?

3. A copy of the student’s Birth Certificate or Passport

4. Completed Student Application Reference from the current school. See Pages 4 and 5.

5. A copy of the Semester 2 - 2019 school report and Semester 1 – 2020 school report (if available)

6. Copies of evidence of recent participation in academic competitions and co-curricular activities

There is a $50 non-refundable administration fee to cover the processing of the application. Payment can be made by cheque made out to Fort Street High School (to be included with the application) or on our school website: www.fortstreet.nsw.edu.au

Essay Topic: Aphorisms have impact because they speak the truth. Discuss the following famous aphorism from President Franklin Roosevelt: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Year 11 2020 ACER - Higher Abilities Selection Test

As part of the Fort Street High School Year 11 selection process, applicants will be required to sit the Acer - Higher Abilities Selection Test (HAST).

The Selective High Schools listed below are coordinating their entry test for Year 11 2021 to be held on Saturday 8 August 2020:

- - Fort Street High School - - - Hornsby Girls High School - North Girls High School - St George Girls High School

If your first preference is Fort Street High School, you will need to put in an application (including payment of $100) before 24 July 2020.

Please note: applicants cannot sit the test at Fort Street High School if the school is not your first preference.

If you have nominated a second or third preference from the list above, you must also submit an application to those schools. If Fort Street High School is your second or third preference, you must still complete and send a full application (See page 2 – requirements are listed 1 to 7) to Fort Street High School so we can register your preference. An administration fee of $50 will be charged to process the application.
