discover . . . Pulteney Bridge Pulteney Bridge was designed in 1769 by Robert Adam, and is one of only four bridges in the world to have shops both sides across its full span. It was named after Frances Pulteney, wife of William Johnstone Pulteney. He was an important landowner in Georgian Bath and had grand plans that included this spectacular bridge. It opened in 1770 and was a revelation.
