3 COLBERT PUBLIC SCHOOL ANNUAL NOTIFICATION FOR PARENTS, TEACHERS AND EMPLOYEES September 8, 2020 The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986 (AHERA) requires the inspection of all buildings in the school district for asbestos. The district has complied with this act. A management plan documenting these inspections is on file for public review. Upon request, you may view the plan which is located at the superinten- dent’s office and at each campus. The Colbert Public Schools annually notifies all parents, teachers, and other employees by posting this notice. Additionally, infor- mation regarding any asbestos related activities planned or in progress, will be disseminated by posting a notice, or using handout bulletins, flyers and/or using news- paper public notice statements. The asbestos identified in our management plan will be checked regularly by a licensed asbestos company and by our staff to scruti- nize any changes in the material which could cause a health hazard. We will continue to monitor the asbestos as defined by the EPA guidelines. If changes occur, our asbestos coordinator will notify the appropriate people as prescribed by law. Anyone wishing to view the asbestos plan of Colbert Public Schools needs to call the superintendent’s office to schedule an appointment. -Jarvis Dobbs, Superintendent -Thural Sorrell, II, Asbestos Coordinator Charley Johnston, Jr.
