The volunteer organization, whose garage is at 8161 New Utrecht Ave., operates through donations and grant monies. CELEBRATING Scarola said none of the volunteers are paid. The BVAC responds to 911 calls and, according to Scarola, is called on by the city when private ambulance companies are not available.
