Erwin Kubesch

Erwin Kubesch (Born July 17, 1950 in Vienna) is an Austrian diplomat. He was the Austrian ambassador to the Netherlands (2004 to 2008), Denmark (2008 to 2009) and (2009 to 2012).

Erwin Kubesch graduated from high school in 1968 at a federal high school in Vienna. He then studied law at the University of Vienna. In 1973, his studies were followed by a legal internship at the Vienna Higher Regional Court. From 1974 to 1979 he worke d for the financial clerk.

He is general secretary of the Germany Society (ÖDG) and spokesman for the Austrian Bhutan Society. [1]

Diplomatic career

From From 1979 to 1981 the doctorate in law worked in the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely in the international law office and the legal and consular section; from 1981 to 1984 he was at the Austrian embassy in Prague. From 1984 to 1988 Erwin Kubesc h was appointed Permanent Representation of Austria to the in Geneva, from 1998 to 1992 he was Deputy Head of the Human Resources Department at the Foreign Ministry in Vienna.

From 1992 to 1997 Erwin Kubesch was consul general in Berlin, af ter which he returned to Vienna as head of the human resources department and deputy head of the section for administrative affairs and infrastructure in the Foreign Ministry.

Erwin Kubesch had his first accreditation as ambassador from 2004 to 2008 as Au strian ambassador to the Netherlands. He was also Permanent Representative of Austria to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague. From 2005 to 2008 he was also Vice President of the Convention of the International Crimi nal Court. From 2008 to 2009 he was ambassador to Denmark with simultaneous accreditation in Iceland. From July 2009 to 2012 Erwin Kubesch succeeded Valentin Inzko as ambassador in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
