Some findings of a collecting trip in September 1993 (Lepidoptera, Macrolepidoptera) by STOYAN B es h k o v received 16. IV. 1994 Abstract: This article is a result of a collecting trip of the author in Albania during September 17th—26th. Data for 108 Macrolepidoptera species are presented. 7 genera and 26 species are new for the fauna of Albania. One species - Nola squalida Staudinger , 1870 is new for the Balkan peninsula; for two other species their occurrence in the Balkans is assured. For the mentioned species all known localities are given using the available literature about Alba nia after Rebel & Z erny (1931). Illustrations of the male and female genitalia as well as photographs of a large portion of the species are given. During September, 17th—26th 1993 I had the possibility of visiting Albania for a second time. The collecting trip had been made by car. The trip involved primarily the Albanian sea coast due to the availability of roads. My previous trip had shown this to be one of the most inter esting area whose species differ from those found in the countryside. More over, the moun tains are unattractive concerning Lepidoptera during this season. Part of the material was collected by a Bulgarian student, Boyan Petrov , a member of the Bulgarian speleological expedition in North Albania, May-June 1993. All the localities mentioned in this paper are marked on the map and explained in the text. The uncommented moths were collected by the author using a 250W UV-lamp and are part of the author's collection. Only a small part of the species (Geometridae: Sterrhinae, Laren- tiinae) is still undetermined. Another part of the species (migrants) are published (Beshkov , 1995). Genital preparations are made by the author for most of the specimens. A portion of them are figured here. This is to avoid future misunderstandings concerning the identity of the species reported. It is necessary, because there are some doubts about correct determina tion and recently reported species by Albanian authors. Furthermore, following Rebel & Z erny (1931), no illustrations of Albanian specimens and their genitals have been made. The pictures of the genitalia were taken by Mr. I. Stoychev and the author. The map was prepared by Mr. S. Abadjiev (Sofia). The picture of the Lepidoptera species were taken by the author together with S. Y otov . Because of difficult access to most articles, as they are inaccessible having been published in Albania in Albanian, all the literature for the country after Rebel & Z erny (1931) is referred here. Thus all the localities mentioned prior in literature, are given for the species mentioned in this article. For every locality all authors in chronological order are given. The systematic order of the families given follows Leraut (1980) and Arbeitsgemeinschaft Nordbayeri - scher Entomologen (1988). The systematic of the family Noctuidae is given according to Fibiger & H acker (1990). 3 6 5 ©Ges. zur Förderung d. Erforschung von Insektenwanderungen e.V. Esperiana Band 14: 545-558 Schwanfeld, 19.

The global results of the ninth Catalan Moth Nights (CMN) are presented. This event is organized once a year by the Catalan Lepi- dopterological Society in Catalonia and Andorra. On this occasion the CMN were held on the nights of 14–18 June 2012, and 74 people took part in the event. In all, 74 localities in Andorra and in 25 Catalan counties, with an altitudinal range of about 2,100 m, were sampled. The number of species recorded was the highest since the CMN began. In total 5,729 moths were recorded belonging to 712 species from 47 families. It is worth highlighting the first record for Catalonia of the Tischeriidae Tischeria dodonaea Stt., the Tineidae Nemapogon variatella (Clem.), the Gelechiidae Prolita sexpunctella (F.) and Athrips amoenella (Frey), and the Tortricidae Cydia trogodana Pröse. Resum.

  • Butterflies and Moths (Insecta: Lepidoptera) of the Lokrum Island, Southern Dalmatia

VOL. 29 Suppl. No 2 1227-24051-57 ZAGREB DecemberMarch 31, 31, 2021 2020 original scientific paper / izvorni znanstveni rad DOI 10.20302/NC.2020.29.29 BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS (INSECTA: LEPIDOPTERA) OF THE LOKRUM ISLAND, SOUTHERN DALMATIA Toni Koren Association Hyla, Lipovac I 7, HR-10000 Zagreb, Croatia (e-mail: [email protected]) Koren, T.: Butterflies and moths (Insecta: Lepidoptera) of the Lokrum island, southern Dalmatia. Nat. Croat., Vol. 29, No. 2, 227-240, 2020, Zagreb. In 2016 and 2017 a survey of the butterflies and moth fauna of the island of Lokrum, Dubrovnik was carried out. A total of 208 species were recorded, which, together with 15 species from the literature, raised the total number of known species to 223. The results of our survey can be used as a baseline for the study of future changes in the Lepidoptera composition on the island. In comparison with the lit- erature records, eight butterfly species can be regarded as extinct from the island. The most probable reason for extinction is the degradation of the grassland habitats due to the natural succession as well as the introduction of the European Rabbit and Indian Peafowl. Their presence has probably had a tremendously detrimental effect on the native flora and fauna of the island. To conserve the Lepidop- tera fauna of the island, and the still remaining biodiversity, immediate eradication of these introduced species is needed. • (Lepidoptera) from a Location Near Marmaris in South-Western Anatolia, Turkey
Esperiana Band 19: 263-296 Bad Staffelstein; 26.
