The Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Recreation and Sports Programmes for April 2020 to March 2021 in Central and Western District

In response to the passage of the impromptu motion “This funding is approved on condition that the department concerned provides the criteria, time and records for the past five years regarding co-organiser/assisting organiser; criteria for using the department’s logo; and submits the information before the Finance Committee meeting” at the 2nd meeting of the Cultural, Education, Healthcare, Leisure & Social Affairs Committee of the Central and Western District Council on 7 May 2020, the response of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is given below:

LCSD has been committed to promoting the “Sports for All”. To strengthen communication with local community and enhance participation of organisation in community services, the Central and Western District Leisure Services Office (this Office) has been organising and introducing diversified recreation and sports programmes jointly organised/co-organised with local organisations for participation by members of the public so as to encourage them to establish a habit of regular participation of sports. Programmes jointly organised/co-organised with other organisations over the past five years are set out in Schedule for members’ information. The names of the co-organisers or assisting organisers will be covered in “Report on the Organisation of Recreation and Sports Programmes in the Central and Western District by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department”.

As in previous years, LCSD will first consider a host of factors before determining whether to jointly organise or co-orgainse recreation and sports programmes with an organisation, including whether the organisation is government department or non-profit making organisation, degree of participation of the organisation in the programmes and its past experience in organising relevant programmes, etc. Permission must be obtained from this Office for displaying the LCSD logo on the promotional materials of the programmes jointly organised/co-organised with this Office.
