Clergy Appointments and Pastoral Provisions

Most Reverend Richard Grecco, of Charlottetown, having in mind the needs of the different communities of the Diocese and responding to his obligation to take care of the souls, has announced the following clergy appointments and pastoral provisions. These pastoral changes will take place effective June 25, 2015 unless stated otherwise:

1. Rev. Paul Egan, presently pastor of St. Joseph’s in in Kelly’s Cross, granted retirement.

2. Rev. Phil Callaghan, presently on a Sabbatical Leave, granted retirement effective June 1, 2015.

3. Rev. John Lacey, presently Chaplain of the QEH and the Hillsboro Hospital, granted retirement.

4. Rev. Eric Dunn, V.G., presently on a Sabbatical Leave, while retaining his functions as Vicar General, granted retirement.

5. Rev. Joseph Thaipparampil, CMI, presently Associate Pastor at the Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Charlottetown, has been re-assigned to ministry in India by his Religious Congregation.

6. Rev. Lyndon Hogan, presently Pastor at Holy Family Pastoral Unit (Our Lady of Assumption, Stratford; St. Joachim’s, Vernon River; and St. Patrick’s, Fort Augustus), granted a one year Sabbatical Leave.

7. Rev. Doug MacDonald, while retaining his assignment as Pastor of St. Malachy’s, Kinkora and Pastoral Administrator of St. Peter’s in Seven Mile Bay, will assume the Pastoral Administration of St. Joseph’s Parish in Kelly’s Cross. Fr. MacDonald has been granted a six-month Sabbatical Leave effective September 1, 2015. The diocese is making provisions to replace him while on sabbatical. These provisions will be announced at a later date.

8. Rev. Isaac Chackalaparampil, CMI, presently pastor at the Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Charlottetown, after consultation with his religious superiors, posted as Associate Pastor of the same parish.

9. Rev. George Palamattan, CMI, presently Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Hamilton, , after consultation with his religious superiors, posted as Pastor at the Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Charlottetown.

10. Rev. Benedict Paulraj, O. Praem, presently Associate Pastor at the Holy Family Pastoral Unit (Our Lady of Assumption, Stratford; St. Joachim’s, Vernon River; and St. Patrick’s, Fort Augustus) posted as Pastoral Administrator of the same Pastoral Unit.

11. Rev. John Molina, presently Pastor at St. Mary’s Holy Family Parish in Kensington and St. James Parish in Summerfield, while retaining his office as Chancellor and Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Charlottetown and Associate Judicial Vicar of the Halifax Regional Catholic Marriage Tribunal, posted as Resident Priest with weekend ministry at the Holy Family Pastoral Unit in Stratford, Fort Augustus and Vernon River

12. Rev. Frank Jay, presently Pastor of St. Augustine’s, South Rustico and Pastoral Administrator of St. Anne’s, Hope River; and Stella Maris, North Rustico, posted as Pastor of St. Mary’s Holy Family in Kensington and Pastoral Administrator in St. James, Summerfield.

13. Rev. Arulraj Santiago, presently Associate Pastor at St. Paul’s, Summerside, posted as Pastoral Administrator of St. Augustine’s, Rustico; St. Anne’s, Hope River; and Stella Maris, North Rustico.

14. Rev. Ashok Veerabathina, presently Associate Pastor at St. Dunstan’s Basilica Parish in Charlottetown, posted as Associate Pastor at St. Paul’s Parish in Summerside.

15. Rev. George Gilliland, retired, recalled temporarily to serve as Chaplain at the QEH in Charlottetown.
