After firing 6-under 64 in the second round to take the lead, Furyk never looked back with rounds of 66 and 71 on the weekend to post 7-under. He led by two after 36 holes, led by four after 54 holes and won by three strokes. o It is the highest first-round position by a winner this season on PGA TOUR Champions. He won each of his first two starts (2020 The Ally Challenge, 2020 PURE Insurance Championship). o A rookie on PGA TOUR Champions this season, Furyk has 10 top-10s in 16 starts, while never finishing outside of the top 20. • Furyk, who held a lead/co-lead entering the final round for the first time on PGA TOUR Champions, is 2-for-3 when playing in the last group of the final round. He won 2020 The Ally Challenge and finished T2 at the 2020 TimberTech Championship while playing in the final group. • Playing in his third major on PGA TOUR Champions, Furyk’s previous finishes were sixth (2021 Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship) and T16 (KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship). • Furyk owns 17 PGA TOUR victories and won the FedExCup in 2010. He is the only player in PGA TOUR history with two sub-60 rounds (58, 2016 Travelers Championship, R4; 59, 2013 BMW Championship, R2). Mike Weir, 70-71-68-67 – 276 (-4) • After playing the first 11 holes in 1-over, Weir birdied four of his final seven holes en route to 3-under 67, matching the lowest round of the day (Rod Pampling). • This is Weir’s best finish in a major on PGA TOUR Champions. In three previous starts, his best finish was T5 (2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship). • Weir, who won the 2021 Insperity Invitational, earns his fourth runner-up finish of the season. He has 10 top-10s in 20 starts as a rookie, including four of his last five starts. Retief Goosen, 72-69-66-69 – 276 (-4) • After playing his first 11 holes in 1-over, Goosen made two birdies in his last seven holes to shoot 1-under 69. • Goosen was the only player in the field to shoot sub-70 scores in each of the final three rounds. Statistically, he finished T1 in greens in regulation (56 of 72). • This matches Goosen’s best finish of the season on PGA TOUR Champions (2nd, 2021 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai). o It is his fifth top-three finish and 12th top-10 in 26 appearances this season. o Goosen has finished in the top four in three of his last four starts on PGA TOUR Champions. • Goosen, who won the 2019 Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, earns his fifth top-five finish in a major on PGA TOUR Champions (10 appearances). • While on the PGA TOUR, Goosen won the U.S. Open in 2001 and 2004. Other Notes • Rod Pampling matched the low round of the day with 3-under 67 to finish fourth at 3-under 277. It is his best finish in a major on PGA TOUR Champions. • 2010 U.S. Senior Open champion Bernhard Langer shot 68-68 on the weekend to post 1-under 279 and finish T5. Langer holds the record for most major wins on PGA TOUR Champions (11). • Kevin Sutherland finished T5 at 1-under 279 for his best finish in a major since the 2015 Regions Tradition (second). Sutherland, who has two wins this season, picks up his fifth top-five in his last eight starts. • Fred Couples finished seventh at even-par 280 for his fifth consecutive top-10 finish. • William Mitchell earned low amateur honors, finishing T46 at 12-over 292. .
