he second session of CLAP (the first session was held in Ansan, Korea) where all 37 participants met together for the first time convened at the beautiful campus of the Central Philippine Adventist College on the island of Negros from T June 21, 2009. We were warmly welcomed by the administration and faculty on Sunday evening with great food and an outstanding musical program. All participants expressed their satisfaction with the facilities which include an inviting swimming pool. Classes kicked off immediately with English sessions with Mrs. Erica Hole from Newbold College and Mrs. Maike Stepanek, her assistant teacher. Leadership sessions were delivered by seasoned administrators and church leaders who lived in the area. On Wednesday evening, the Lord performed a miracle at about 10 pm. One of our participants from Taiwan, Pastor Kevin Peng, had decided to try out the pool after working on his assignments. Using his new found swimming skills he made his way to the opposite end of the 25 meter pool. What happened next only God will know, but it seems that he experienced a seizure, overwhelmed by the depth of the water. Praise God that several of his friends were there and a student supervisor alerted them to the fact that Kevin had sunk to the bottom. That Sabbath saw our group worshipping at the Bacolod City Church together with believers in that city. Dr. Phoon preached the sermon and the CLAP choir sang a couple of songs in addition to the rich music that the Church choir and groups shared with us. After we were fed spiritually, the group did a community service project in a nearby “barangay” or village where there were many poor children. The Northern Asia-Pacific Division provided funds for books (My Bible Friends) to 100 children in addition to food items for the families. The parents and children were encouraged to read as well as exchange their books (since they came in 10 different volumes) after they had finished their particular volume. Leadership sessions assisted all with reflection of their leadership styles and will hopefully help them mature as leaders. KAYAMM Helps PMMs

ighteen Korean American Youth Adventist Mission Movement (KAYAMM) E short-term missionaries helped 8 PMM missionaries from July 1 to 21, 2009 for three weeks. In Macao where a new church was just established last May, missionaries distributed invitation cards and tracts to promote the church in the local community in spite of the baking heat of 36°C. KAYAMM missionaries in cooperation with the PMM missionaries held English classes, helped vacation Bible schools and supported evangelistic meetings. This complementary cooperation between PMM and KAYAMM had a synergistic effect and made some young missionaries from the USA dream of long-term mission work. Following is the ▲ Dali church, Taiwan story of KAYAMM missionaries serving at Dali church, Taiwan.

I can't believe it has already been a full week in Taiwan. It was hard at first adjusting to the time change, along with the weather but now we are beginning to develop a patterned schedule every day. We have been starting off our mornings with short devotions/worship and praise songs followed by breakfast. Then we teach our first session of children who only know the basics-- such as the ABC's and 123's. These kids are so adorable and cooperative. We recently started using stickers as motivation for the kids. If they show up to class, do a good job, win a ▲ Maranatha church, Mongolia game, or sing with enthusiasm, we reward them with a sticker and then eventually whoever has the most stickers wins a big prize. This really gets them going (for other KAYAMM missionaries teaching kids, you guys should definitely try it!) Yesterday, we taught them about the members of the Family. Each child drew their own family tree. Today, we taught them fruit and vegetable names. We played BINGO and made flash cards with pictures for the children to match up. For our second class, we have four teenagers. They are ALL extremely shy and quiet, which made it difficult for us to teach them. We want to try to make it fun for them but it won't work unless they cooperate with us. Since they were so shy, we decided ▲ Macao Blessing church to take them to the park to play some basketball. We taught them some words related to basketball and then proceeded to play a game of 4 on 4. They cooperated better on the court than they did in the classroom (or most of them at least). We made a bet that the losing team buys the winning team ice cream. That gave them a little more motivation. I still don't think they've opened up to us fully, so we ask that you would please pray for them, to be more open to us and to each other so that we may be able to teach them English, along with the Word of God. -Megan & Jenny

Participants were filled with grace through his messages and appreciated his visit to Mongolia since it was the first time for a representative from the Korean Union Conference to visit the PMM pastors. They expressed appreciation and promised to prepare and devote themselves to mission to a greater degree.

Sixteen pathfinder club members and VBS attendees from Biwako church in Japan, along with their 7 adult chaperones attended the Pathfinder camp meeting of the East Central Korean Conference from July 27 to 30, 2009. As Japan does not usually hold summer camp meeting for children, this was a good opportunity and exciting experience for this group of young kids. Biwako church decided to bring the children to Korea instead of opening a Vacation Bible School (VBS). God really blessed their plans, and 23 people travelled safely to Korea. ▲ Japanese children from Biwako church Both the Japanese and Korean children enjoyed their time together. They felt enriched by fellowshipping with friends who share the same belief despite having different nationalities and cultures. The Biwako Pathfinders visited a number of local attractions including Nami Island, the Korean Broadcasting System, Kyongbok Palace, Insa-dong, and Namsan Tower. On Sabbath, they attended Chongnyangni church and worshipped with their new Korean friends. All enjoyed a good time, learned more about God and fashioned precious memories. We hope these children will grow in Christ to become future leaders of the Adventist church in Japan. ▲ At ECKC Children’s Campmeeting

The Story of a Happy Life - New HHMM DVD Released

he HisHands Mission Movement (HHMM) has produced a new series of DVDs. KUC HHMM completed the production of The Story of a Happy Life DVD a year after T initial plans were made. DVD contains 4 topics. Under Gospel- The Journey to find love and truth by Dr. KiKon Kim, Family-Invitation to a happy family by Mrs. JaeSun Ahn, Health-Is there a way? by Dr. SangGu Lee, and Prophecy-God cares for us by Pastor SungHa Park. Over 1,000 missionaries have joined the HisHands Mission Movement since its inception one and a half years ago. Missionaries are working hard to evangelize their motherland as well as to empower local churches. When missionaries visit public offices, facilities, stores or neighbors, they hand out specially developed mission materials to make contact to people more easily. It is with this in mind that KUC finally produced this mission DVD. In an effort to reach people living in this post-modern society, a variety of audio-visual content and high-tech video footage was used to impress the hearts of different age groups and socio-economic positions. Whosoever watches this DVD, no matter who he/she is or what he/she believes, will have the opportunity to hear present truth including Jesus Christ and His love for us as revealed on the Cross, righteousness by faith, and the Three Angels’ Messages. “This is a new and exciting project and I appreciate the support of Dr. Jairyong Lee, Pastor MyungKwan Hong and other church leaders. I want to encourage missionaries to reinforce their mission spirit and GO every place in Korea,” said Pastor NakHyung Kim, KUC HHMM Coordinator.

Ilsan English Church Welcomes Three New Members to the Family

hat do you get when you mix English classes, messages that uplift Christ and friendship evangelism? Ilsan English W Church added three new members to the family as a result of this soul-winning combination, namely, Oh, Yang Soon (Michelle), Kim, Hyung Keun (James) and Jo, Kyn Hwan (John). “I found the truth and I know the right way – God’s way, and therefore I want to be baptized,” Michelle said. Some ladies from church noticed that she was very open to the gospel. She took Bible studies for about 6-7 months in preparation for baptism. Like Michelle, studying God’s word prompted James to follow the Lord. “I want to be baptized because I have studied the Bible and I accept its truth – I realize what it means to be baptized,” he said in his testimony just before getting baptized. The English classes first attracted him to church and he kept on coming week after week. With John, it was his friendship with one of the youth at church that prompted him to attend church regularly. She then invited a Bible worker from a Korean church, who befriended him and gave him Bible studies. Recently, he was cleared for baptism by Pastor SunMan Kim. At the baptism, John said, “I want to be close to God. My baptism is the beginning of my journey with God.” The baptisms occurred on June 20, 2009, after the week-long evangelistic meetings held at the Ilsan English Church. The church’s Pastor, Mark Jenneke, said he has faith that the outreach programs and annual evangelistic meetings will continue to win more souls in future and the next evangelistic campaign is scheduled for September 7-12 this year.

I Learned Every Soul is Precious!

ur Golden Angels group spent one week going from house to house, with O our limited Japanese language skills. We distributed invitation pamphlets for the upcoming evangelistic meetings and hoped to reach even one more soul. Though we faced numerous rejections and were exhausted because of the heat and humidity we praised God that he had sent us some people who showed an interest. We learned through our experience here that each and every soul is so precious. We went anywhere to seek for souls, hospitals to reach the sick, kindergartens to attract teachers, houses to invite the elderly. We sang for them. We enjoyed the big smile on their faces while we were singing. Our hearts were full and happy too because we could share the good news of Jesus Christ with people who had never heard about Him.
