(EEI) is a non-profit Kentucky corporation formed in 1975 initially to stage the 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships at the brand new Kentucky Horse Park. The 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships, held for the first time in the United States, were an unprecedented success. Individual World Champion Bruce Davidson of Pennsylvania retained the world title and the popular team of riders and horses from Canada were the winners of the Team Gold Medal. Shortly after the conclusion of the World Championships, the American Horse Shows Association asked EEI to host the first major three- day event, setting the wheels in motion for the 1979 Kentucky Horse Trials and similar events thereafter. Today, the Kentucky Three-Day Event is the only CCI4* Eventing competition in the Western Hemisphere and one of six 4* Eventing competitions in the world. Furthermore, the Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of three Eventing competitions included in the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing series. In order to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, the athlete must consecutively win the Kentucky Three-Day Event, Badminton Horse Trials and Burghley Horse Trials. To date, only two equestrian athletes have accomplished this great feat. 2017 Kentucky Three-Day Event Champion, Michael Jung and Fischerroncana FST of Germany. Jung and Fischerroncana FST also won the 2015 and the 2016 Kentucky Three-Day Event making them the second pair in event history to consecutively win the Kentucky Three-Day Event three times in a row. 3 National Coverage The Kentucky Three-Day Event was first shown on NBC television May 9, 2004, a first for an Eventing competition in the U.S. outside of an Olympic Games. The ratings for this program were much greater than NBC expected, so much so that the network agreed to air the competition program for another two years. 2017 was NBC’s 13th year airing the Kentucky Three-Day Event program and continues to receive top ratings. Below are the NBC broadcast ratings for the 2017 Kentucky Three-Day Event program. 90-minute program with two airings post event The 90-minute program aired on Sunday, May 7th, the day after the 2017 Kentucky Derby NBC traditionally hires Kenny Rice, Donna Brothers and Melanie Smith Taylor for on-air talent and coverage The program was the 4th highest viewed show on NBC for the day, following two F1 racing programs and one sailing program Over the 90 minute program, 1.6 million viewers tuned into to watch the event coverage From year to year, the Kentucky Three-Day Event program has been the U.S. Network TV’s highest rated equestrian (non-horse racing) program 4 Famous Eventing Competitors at Kentucky Michael Jung (GER): Jung won the Kentucky Three- Day Event in 2015, 2016, and 2017 making him the first competitor to ever consecutively win three times. Additionally, Jung holds the first ranked position on the FEI World Eventing Athlete list as well as competed and won the Individual Gold Medal at the 2016 and the 2012 Summer Olympics. Phillip Dutton (USA): Dutton has competed annually at Kentucky for the past several years. His most recent and notable accomplishment is winning the Individual Bronze Medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In addition, Dutton was a member of the United States Eventing Team at the 1996 and the 2000 Summer Olympics, in which the United States won the Team Gold Medal both times. Dutton is currently ranked third on the FEI World Eventing Athlete list. William Fox-Pitt (UK): Fox-Pitt, a remarkable Olympic-level Eventer from Great Britain, is one of the most distinguished athletes to compete at Kentucky. Fox-Pitt has impressively won Kentucky three times; once in 2010, in 2012 and again in 2014. Formerly ranked first (2014) on the FEI World Eventing Athlete list, Fox-Pitt has represented his country on multiple world championship and Olympic teams. 5 Current Sponsor Portfolio The Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of the premiere equestrian events in North America, attracting top competitors from around the world, garnering crowds in excess of 80,000 annually, and generating national media coverage. Our current event partners include: 6 Kentucky Three-Day Event and $225,000 Invitational Grand Prix New in 2018, the Kentucky Three-Day Event will host a CSI3* show jumping competition as part of its schedule of international competition. Held Saturday, April 28 following the completion of the CCI4*’s Cross-Country phase, the $225,000 Invitational Grand Prix will feature 30 international riders. In addition to the $225,000 Grand Prix, there will be a $35,000 1.45m FEI ranking class on Friday afternoon after the CCI4*’s dressage competition. Guilherme Jorge, show jumping course designer at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, will be the course designer for the CSI. The $225,000 Invitational Grand Prix will be held in Rolex Stadium and Kentucky Three-Day Event Saturday ticket holders will be able to reserve a complimentary seat in Rolex Stadium. Seats are allocated on a first- come, first-served basis. The addition of a major show jumping Grand Prix to the internationally-recognized Kentucky Three-Day Event make sponsorship and hospitality options attractive to organizations and elite equestrians who support the both sports. The $225,000 Invitational Grand Prix is produced by Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the Kentucky Three-Day Event, in partnership with Split Rock Jumping Tour.
