James D. Corbett Ministries, All Rights Reserved Greetings in the Wonderful Name of Jesus! God said, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon the tables, that he may run that readeth it.” By vision we mean a clear insight into God’s plan or road map for our lives and ministry. Scripture further tells us in Proverbs 29:18 Pastor James D. Corbett “Where there is no vision, the people perish: …”. We must be people of vision in order to enjoy all that God has for us. Vision allows us to see that which is unseen by the natural eye. Vision motivates and propels towards destiny. Lady Sarah and I along with the GCCC family invite you and your family to worship and fellowship with us during our Family and Friends Day on Sunday, March 15. The message and theme for this service is Perfect Vision. Join us for a great time in the Word of God, powerful time of worship and an enjoyable time of fellowship. We will also have a cook out and fun outside activities after the 10 am service. Come and bring your family and friends. There will be a special reception for our Partners during our Family and Friends Day. Please let our greeters know that you are Partners of the Greenville Community Christian Church, Door of Faith Broadcasts, or Word in Season. Lady Sarah and I are looking forward to seeing you at the service and the reception. I trust that A Word in Season is a continual blessing to you. Make AWIS a part of your daily devotion. You may also send in a letter of testimony about how A Word in Season and this ministry has blessed you. I believe each daily message will speak to you in a special way. Your prayers and offerings of support help sustain this ministry and are appreciated. Thank you. Lady Sarah and I along with our prayer ministry pray for you daily. We love and appreciate you. Yours In Christ, James D Corbett A Word in Season Daily Devotional March 2020 © 2020 James D. Corbett Ministries, All rights reserved Page 3 March 1 Expect A Miracle Luke 1: 30-31 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. Can we expect a miracle? Should we expect a miracle? We know about living by faith, but can we expect God to perform a miracle for us? Yes, we can. Just like in this passage of scripture, the angel set Mary up for a miracle. God wants to set you up for a miracle. Expect a divine visitation. Expect God to move on your behalf. When you are in a season of worship, expect God to do things on your behalf. Expect him to open doors no man can shut. Expect God to do exceeding, abundantly above all you can ask or think according to the power that worketh in you. We serve a supernatural God. God is beyond what our brain can figure out. God is beyond the natural course of nature. God wants to do far beyond what your mind can comprehend. Expect God to do the supernatural. Prayer Focus: Lord, I expect you to do the supernatural in my life. Verse of the Day: Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Living the Word: Expect a Miracle! To Order Call: 252-752-5683 ext 248 Page 4 March 2 Expect A Miracle (cont.) Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. Expect a miracle. You may be facing a situation today that you don’t quite know what to do. Expect God to intervene on your behalf. With man, it may seem impossible but with God, all things are possible. God loves you and he wants to show himself strong in your life (2Chron 16:9). As Christians, we cannot reduce God down to our natural humanistic thinking. God is a supernatural God. Just like God led the children of Israel on dry ground through the Red Sea, expect God to intervene in the course of nature in your situation. When you need healing, expect a miracle. When your home is in turmoil, expect a miracle. When your finances are all messed up, expect a miracle. When your mind is all confused and you don’t know where to turn or what to do next, expect a miracle. Prayer Focus: Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that you move in this situation for me. Verse of the Day: Jer 32:17 Ah Lord God! Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee. Living the Word: Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. www.greenvillecommunitychristian.com Page 5 March 3 You Have Hope Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Sometimes people will say to you “don’t get your hopes up”. It is an effort to keep you from being disappointed when things don’t turn out the way you think they should. You need to have hope. Without hope, there is no faith and without faith, it is impossible to please God. Hope gives you an expectation for a favorable outcome. Hope says the Word of God promises me this and I am going to believe God for it. Keep your hope in God. Pray and put your trust in him. God loves you and his favor is upon your life. Expect the miraculous. God will do something in your life just so that you can see his hand is upon you. He will move on your behalf, just to let you know that it is his favor on you and not anything you have done. God knows you and you are highly favored. So get your hopes up! Prayer Focus: Lord, I will put my trust in you. Verse of the Day: Rom 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for it? Living the Word: My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. To Order Call: 252-752-5683 ext 248 Page 6 March 4 Hearing the Voice of God John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. As Christians, we should hear and know the voice of God. We need to learn how to hear the voice of God. Learning to hear God’s voice comes in many ways. You can hear his voice through prayer or spending quiet time alone with God. You also hear his voice through his word. Be attentive in church so you can hear the voice of God through the preached word. God can speak a word to you through the man or woman of God. God will not contradict his word; so major in the word. Keep the word of God flowing on the inside of you. When you need God to move in a situation in your life, you need something to hang your faith on. Faith begins where the will of God is known, and the will of God is the word of God. God can and will speak to you as you spend time alone with him in the inner court. The place where only he resides, and you can enter into fellowship with your heavenly Father. Learn to hear the voice of God. Prayer Focus: Father, I thank you that you are speaking to me and I hear your voice. Verse of the Day: John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Living the word: Go to church, read your bible, and spend time with God. www.greenvillecommunitychristian.com Page 7 March 5 Don’t Compromise Josh 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. There will be times when people will try to encourage you to compromise or lower your standards. Stand strong and make up your mind that you will do this, as unto the Lord. When you stand strong in the things of God, you convict others to do likewise. When someone is tempted to do wrong or is doing wrong things, they are looking for excuses to continue. Don’t be the reason or excuse they use to continue to do wrong. If someone tries to encourage you to compromise or be in agreement; don’t! The devil wants you to write people off or fall in the trap yourself. Stop saying, “Well, just go on then, and do what you want to do”. Stand your ground. If someone is going in the wrong direction, let them know. Tell them, “No, I’m not in agreement with what you are doing”. Let them know, “This is not about you or me. This is about my relationship with the Lord. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” Prayer Focus: Dear Lord, I will not let the enemy weary me and cause me to compromise.

  • The Knucklehead Gospels
The Knucklehead Gospels A Simple Faith 2021 By Arnulfo D. Ayala 1 The Knucklehead Gospels A Simple Faith 2021 Foreword I was ordained a permanent deacon in the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo, Texas in 2004, but I was introduced to prison ministry in the fall of 2000, working as a volunteer at a Kairos retreat at the Lynaugh Unit in Ft Stockton, Texas. From my first visit to the prison, I knew this is where God called me to serve. Many people have no knowledge of or experience with the prison system, so they have a great misconception of the individuals who reside behind those walls. Some may think that people in prison have no value and don’t deserve a second chance. I can firmly attest that in ministering to our incarcerated brothers and sisters, I have witnessed the power of God working through many of these gifted humans. It has been transformational for me and has helped me to deepen my relationship with Christ. I am blessed to be able to call them my brothers and sisters. I first met, Arnulfo, the author of this book in 2016 while serving in prison ministry for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. He, along with a core group of devoted Catholic men, are in the maximum-security prison. They have each had a profound experience at a Kolbe Catholic retreat and decided to dedicate their lives to Christ: praying, studying, and working tirelessly to be better men and to inspire their fellow inmates to do the same. I soon realized that Arnulfo, a self-confessed Knucklehead, had the talent, the faith, the experience, and the humility to help other incarcerated men find a way to walk in God’s light in this dark place.

Amber enjoys singing because, in her words, “Most of the time I can't tell you how I feel, but I can sing you a song. ABSTRACT OF THE DISSERTATION Hip-hop, Streetdance, and the Remaking of the Global Filipino by Jeffrey Lorenzo Perillo Doctor of Philosophy in Culture and Performance University of California, Los Angeles, 2013 Professor Susan Leigh Foster, Committee Co-Chair Professor Victor Bascara, Committee Co-Chair New York-based African American, Latino, and Caribbean immigrant youth of the 1960s and early 1970s gave life to one of the world's major contemporary cultural movements: Hip-hop. Initially misunderstood as a faddish form of Black male musical expression, Hip-hop's cultural resistance practices were quickly recognized as four core elements (emceeing, turntablism, graffiti art, and b-boying/b-girling). In the global context, Hip-hop has generated scholarly discourse that points to either the cultural globalization of American Blackness or a "global village." My project interrupts this conversation and focuses on the unique, multi-site cultural history of Filipino identity as constituted through practitioners of Hip-Hop dance. My work argues that a community of Filipinos, situated in different geo-political loci—Berkeley, California, Honolulu, Hawai‘i, and Manila, Philippines—configure prevailing concepts of Hip-hop while remaking conditions of ! ii dispossession and displacement in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
