Supported by Patron: Jack Pennington OAM has been our longest serving patron having first accepted the role in 1994. Apart from managing our uniform stocks and sales since 1995 with hus- band Robert, Rosemary has served eight years on committee (1983- 88 and again 2006 and 2007). She was secretary in both 1985 and 1986 and took over as vice president mid way through 1987. During the earlier years Rosemary also helped organise several successful dinner-dances and other social func- tions as well as our annual fun run.

Secretary: Rod Lynch has been a member since 2000. He became our ninth secretary when elected at a special general meeting in 2006 and was re-elected in May.

Treasurer: Vacant at time of writing but Will Foster is continuing in the role until a Special General Meeting 19 July elects a new treasurer. Will has been our longest serving treasurer looking after our finances for more than seven years; initially from 1993 to 97 and again from 2005 to the present. He also served another three terms (from 1990 to 1992) as a general committee member. ACT SPORTSTAR OF THE YEAR AWARD œ MAY 2007

“Master Peter Kallio – Athletics Peter Kallio recently competed in the Canberra Half Marathon. He completed the half marathon distance of 21.1km in 1 hour and 34 minutes. His time beat the previous record from 1997 by almost 10 minutes. He was running an amazing 29 seconds per kilometre faster than the previous record set by Lloyd Laing. Peter is the holder of all records from M45 through to and including the M65 in the ACT Veterans Athletic Club at the Half Marathon distance.”

How to get there

Turn off Coppins Crossing Road and through the gate on the Western side of the road about 400m from the Coppins Crossing Road and Uriarra Road intersection. ( Near A14 on Yellow Pages map 57 )

Course Description

All three courses start near the clump of trees close to the Uriarra Road. The course proceeds down the hill, turns to the right and follows the fence line. Turn left at the first intersection and continue up the hill, then turn left at the inter- section near the top of the hill. The Frylink and Waddell courses turn around at 1.75k and retrace the route back to the start. ( Course length 3.5k ) The Thomas course continues on and turns right at the next intersection. Proceed down the hill to the next intersection. Con- tinue through the intersection, which involves a turn of about 30 degrees left, for about 50m to reach a turn around point. After the turn around come back to the intersection and proceed straight through. Turn left at the next intersection and proceed towards the Coppins Crossing Road. Just before the remaining pine trees move right off the main track and follow the minor track to the right of the trees. When this track reaches the fence near the Coppins Crossing Road turn right and proceed up the hill. Follow the main track which veers right away from the road after about 400m. Continue up the hill and to the intersection beyond the top of the hill. Turn left then con- tinue down the hill on what is the first part of the course. Turn right at the next intersection and follow the track back to the start. ( Course length 7k )
