    The official newsletter of the Diocese of Cape Town St Cyprian’s celebrates 10 years as an ICON school The Revd Canon Jim Harris was the guest preacher at the St Cyprian’s School (SCS) Thanksgiving Ser- vice to celebrate 10 Years as an ICON (International PAGE 3 Cross of Nails) School. SYNOD OF BISHOPS STATEMENT SCS was the first school worldwide to be invited to join the CCN movement in 2004. Known as a school that encourages diversity and building bridg- es as well as placing great emphasis on community partnerships, it was very apt to celebrate this mile- stone at the same time as the School’s Feast of Title. The congregation was shown a slide show of the various projects that the girls and staff are involved PAGE 4 in as well as the social justice issues that are close HERITAGE DAY AT to the school community’s heart.     The Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ Easter Day The Cathedral Church of St. Peter & St. Paul in the City & Episcopal Diocese of Washington Happy Easter and welcome to Washington National Cathedral! We gather this morning to celebrate the deepest, most important truth we know—that in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has entered into our world to bring hope, healing, and new life. Jesus embodied God’s unstoppable love so completely that he became a threat to nearly everyone around him, and he was hung on a cross for refusing to compromise or set limits on that love. Today the church proclaims that death was not the last word for him, that God raised him to new life, and in doing that has opened the possibility of healing and hope for everyone. Easter promises that, as with the first disciples, we too can know this risen Lord and can find our lives being filled with his life. So our celebration tonight is not simply about an event long ago, but about how the miracle of resurrection can take place in us. Clergy Moves The Revd Monwabisi Peter has recently been appointed the Chaplain of St Andrews Preparatory School, Grahamstown and the Revd Mvuleni Mvula has been appointed Rector of St Clement’s, Grahamstown with effect 1st January 2016. We have been notified by the Revd Margaret Fourie that she will be leaving the diocese at the end of May 2016. The Lord has blessed us with the arrival of the Revd Dr Liz Thomas who has been recommended by the parish council to be their future Priest-in-Charge.     Statement from the Synod of Bishops of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa 'God has given us the ministry of reconciliation’ 2 Cor 5:18 We, the Bishops of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, meeting at the Gonubie Hotel near East London in the Diocese of Grahamstown between 13 and 18 February 2016, wish to share our experience and reflections with the people of the Church. Archbishop Thabo Makgoba asked the Bishops on this occasion to arrive early for their synod in order to express their pastoral presence in the Diocese of Grahamstown and the dioceses of the Eastern Cape more widely. On Sunday 14 February the bishops were invited for refreshments at the guest house of the Premier of the Province of the Eastern Cape, Mr Phumulo Masualle, in King William's Town before embarking on a moving peace walk from the Good News Centre up the hill on the route taken by the marchers to Bisho stadium in 1992, when they were met by the then security forces and 28 were killed. Premier Masualle who was on the march of 1992 and came close to being killed, joined the bishops in the march, together with the mayor and other dignitaries and many Anglican Church groups in uniform. The Archbishop spoke briefly, apologising where the Anglican Church may have failed to act adequately in the past, and he and the Premier laid a wreath at the memorial. The bishops then proceeded into the stadium for a moral regeneration rally led by the MEC for Art, Culture, Sports and Recreation, Ms Penny Majodina, who is also a Methodist lay preacher (and it showed); here the Premier spoke powerfully about the need for moral renewal in the leadership of the nation.

He has designed engineered systems for universities, high schools, houses of worship, hospitals, clinics, research laboratories, and condominiums. He has worked with mechanical systems ranging in size from residential furnaces and condensing units to steam boilers, chillers and cooling towers in central plants. As a Commissioning Authority, Troy implemented commissioning best practices and essential attributes as prescribed by the Building Commissioning Association (BCxA) and ASHRAE Guideline 0. He acted as an advocate for the building owner to ensure quality was incorporated into the project from its inception. During the pre-design phase he helped clients develop and document their building performance requirements, the standard by which the finished product would be judged. As a LEED® Accredited Professional Troy helped clients incorporate goals for energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact into the design. During the design phase he reviewed the engineering basis of design, drawings, submittals, and sequences of operation. He developed equipment Installation Checklists to aid the contractors in installing the approved equipment properly. Throughout the construction phase, he performed site inspections to ensure the equipment was installed per the checklists and document any issues that arose. Troy developed Functional Performance Tests for each major system; including air handlers, boilers, chillers, exhaust fans, building controls, lighting controls, and security equipment; and then supervised their execution. He ensured the contractors and designers resolved all documented issues before the building was turned over to the owner.
