Presents SCRIPT The Script are a three-piece Irish pop rock band from Dublin, Ireland. They are currently based in London after signing to RCA Label Group imprint Phonogenic, and their multi- platinum selling debut album The Script was released in August 2008. Danny O'Donoghue and Mark Sheehan met when they were in their late teens in a club in James's Street area of inner-city Dublin, near the Guinness brewery, gravitating to each other through a shared obsession with music, and in particular a love of American black music.Mark and Danny were formerly part of a band that had formed in 1996 called MyTown. They achieved limited success in Ireland and the UK but were overshadowed by the thriving boyband circuit. There were originally four members; Danny O'Donoghue, Mark Sheehan, Terry Daly and Paul Walker. The Script released their debut single We Cry on the 24th of April 2008. "We Cry" received "Single of the Week" on RTÉ 2FM, Today FM and by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1, where many radio presenter heavily supported the band. It was Kevin Hughes' tune of the week on GCap Media's The One Network show Music Control. and entered the UK Singles Chart at number thirty before rising and peaking at number 15 the next week, giving the band their first top twenty single. The track also performed well on the Irish Singles Chart by reaching the top ten, peaking at number nine giving them their first top ten single in their home country. The band released their debut album, The Script on the 11 August 2008. Following the success of The Man Who Can't Be Moved, the album entered the UK Singles Charts at number one with sales of 54,520 copies where it stayed for two weeks. The album spent eight weeks in the top ten and was the twelfth best selling album in the UK of 2008. It had, of January 2009, spent twenty two weeks in the top ten. The Irish office of Sony BMG music presented the group with their first multi platinum award disc for over 600,000 sales of their debut album, "˜The Script'. The Script: #3 By Isaac Chen The band : The Script is a rock band formed with only three members, Danny O’Donoghue as the lead vocalist and keyboardist, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan and the drummer Glen Power. It was formed in 2008 in Dublin, Ireland. Danny was born on Oct 9,1979, Dublin, Ireland. Danny’s father was also a member to the band The Dreams. Danny and Mark were originally members of the 1990’s band Mytown, they later moved to LA to write songs and produce for artists like Britney Spears, Boyz ll Men…. Glen Power was born on July 5th, 1980. He primarily plays drums in the band and he was inspired by his mother to play drums. Glen started playing drums at the age of 8, by the age of 16 he started playing professionally in Ireland. Mark Sheehan, born on July 5th, 1980(same birthday with Glen Power). Lead guitar and backing vocals. He invited Glen to LA to meet Danny and later on they formed the band. The band started off releasing its first album “The Script”, which had peaked #1 in Ireland and the UK. The next three album they made had also topped the album chart in Ireland and the UK , consisting “Science and Faith”, “#3”, and “No Sound Without Silence”. Remarkably, the album “Science and Faith” also made it to the 3rd in the United States. Among their albums, the one that I would like to share their third album “#3”. “#3”: This is their third album released on September 7, 2012.

“Our Silence Buys the Battles”: The Role of Protest Music in the U.S.-Central American Peace and Solidarity Movement CARA E. PALMER “No más! No more!” “No más! No more!” Shout the hills of Salvador Shout the hills of Salvador Echo the mountains of Virginia In Guatemala, Nicaragua We cry out “No más! No more!” We cry out “No más! No more!”1 In the 1980s, folk singer John McCutcheon implored his fellow U.S. citizens to stand in solidarity with Central Americans in countries facing United States (U.S.) intervention. Combining both English and Spanish words, his song “No Más!” exemplifies the emphasis on solidarity that characterized the dozens of protest songs created in connection with the U.S.-Central American Peace and Solidarity Movement (CAPSM).2 McCutcheon’s song declared to listeners that without their active opposition, the U.S. government would continue to sponsor violence for profit. McCutcheon sang, “Our silence buys the battles, let us cry, ‘No más! No more!,’” urging listeners to voice their disapproval of the Reagan administration’s foreign policies, because remaining silent would result in dire consequences. One hundred thousand U.S. citizens mobilized in the 1980s to protest U.S. foreign policy toward Central America. They pressured Congress to end U.S. military and financial aid for the military junta in El Salvador, the military dictatorship in Guatemala, and the Contras in Nicaragua. The Reagan administration supported armed government forces in El Salvador and Guatemala in their repression of the armed leftist groups FMLN and MR-13, and the Contras in Nicaragua in their war against the successful leftist revolution led by the FSLN.
