MAGARITY INTENDS TO RETIRE FOLLOWING SEASON Army West Point women's basketball head coach Dave Magarity announced his intentions to retire following the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, it was announced last week. Magarity's tenure has been one of the best periods in Army's women's basketball history. Under his direction the team earned four postseason berths with a pair of NCAA Tournament and WNIT appearances. Magarity is the Black Knights' all-time wins leader with a record of 263-167 in 15 seasons as the head coach. Army has had nine winning seasons under his direction, with 11 players receiving all-Patriot League honors. LEAGUE'S ANTI-RACISM COMMISSION ANNOUNCED In the summer of 2020, the formation of the Patriot League Anti-Racism Commission was announced. The Commission will examine areas in which systemic racism is perpetuated and seek actionable solutions for long-term sustainable change within the Patriot League. The Commission is grounded in the Patriot League’s mission of preparing student-athletes to become leaders and make meaningful contributions to society in addition to its commitment in ensuring fairness, equitable opportunities, benefits and resources through the athletics departments of its member institutions. The participation of both current and former student-athletes alongside coaches and administrators in the Patriot League Anti-Racism Commission will allow for a partnership across generations to assist in bridging the gap between their experiences, and enhance the understanding of the student experiences on League campuses and communities.
