It explores key themes within the main exhibition to support self-directed visits. Autumn 2013 at the Whitechapel Gallery Sarah Lucas: SITUATION Absolute Beach Man Rubble Throughout the lower and upper floors of the Gallery are two decades of works by British artist, Sarah Lucas. The bawdy euphemisms, repressed truths, erotic delights and sculptural possibilities of the sexual body lie at the heart of Sarah Lucas’s work. First coming to prominence in the 1990s, this British artist’s sculpture, photography and installation have established her as one of the most important figures of her generation. This exhibition takes us from Lucas’s 1990s’ foray into the salacious perversities of British tabloid journalism to the London premiere of her sinuous, light reflecting bronzes: limbs, breasts and phalli intertwine to transform the abject into a dazzling celebration of polymorphous sexuality. -

University of Warwick Art Collection Annual Report 2015-16 Mission Art is intrinsic to the University of Warwick - to its physical, social and academic environment. The original purpose of the Art Collection was the display of works of art in the public spaces of the University. The Art Collection is not displayed in a museum or gallery; the majority of items are on display across the University campus and its other sites. They function as open texts, offering a variety of readings to successive generations of students, staff and visitors. It demonstrates the University’s support of contemporary culture and, in particular, of young professionals working at the leading edge of their field. The education and interpretation programmes that support the collection are open to everyone and contribute to lifelong learning as well as to the work of departments on campus and schools and colleges across the region. Aim To manage and develop the University of Warwick Art Collection to create a significant resource of contemporary art for the campus and for the region. Objectives 1. To contribute to the creation of a distinctive and stimulating campus environment through the development of displays, interpretation and opportunities for meaningful engagement with works of art. 2. To sustain an exceptional teaching, learning and research experience for campus departments, schools and colleges, visitors and audiences through the development of opportunities to interrogate, experience and work with art objects and with artists. 3. In collaboration with academic departments, to develop commissions for new buildings and for the campus that embrace learning and research. 4. -

It was a joyous occasion made even more special with the generous support of our wonderful staff, our loyal Friends, Patrons and sponsors. I wanted to take this moment to thank you all once again for your incredibly warm welcome. Of course, this has also been one of the most challenging years that the Royal Academy has ever faced, and none of us could have foreseen the events of the following months on that day in December when all of the Academicians came together for their Election Assembly. I never imagined that within months of being elected, I would be responsible for the temporary closure of the Academy on 17 March 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. -

Née en 1972, elle a étudié au Goldsmiths College of Art à Londres et aux Beaux-Arts de Paris. Sa pratique est avant tout performative. Ses sculptures et performances ont été présentées à la Whitechapel Art Gallery en 2012, à la 55ème Biennale de Venise en 2013, à la Wellcome Collection à Londres en 2014, à l’Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton à Paris en 2015, à la Saatchi Gallery en 2016 et au Centre Pompidou en 2017. Depuis l’enfance, Alice Anderson a toujours eu une extrême sensibilité à son environne- ment, à la lumière, à certaines couleurs, aux sons, aux mouvements vibratoires et aux ondes transmises par divers matériaux. Son rapport à l’autre se fait essentiellement à tra- vers les objets. L’installation sculpturale est en totale relation visuelle, auditive, olfactive et corporelle avec les objets qui l’entourent ; ils ne sont pas seulement utiles, ils interviennent dans ses apprentissages, ils sont une repré- ‘Spiritual Machines’, 2017 Série de totems et statuettes faites de différentes machines et objets.
