Student accommodation in Varkaus
Exchange students will be accommodated in in dormitory near school (about 200 m). Dormi- tory is owned by Company Rent & Invest.
When you know the exact date of your arrival, please contact Mr Juhani Holopainen ([email protected]) and book the room. Remember to mention if you have any wishes regarding your flat mates (for example, if you would like to be accommodat- ed in the same flat with your friend etc.) or if you have any allergies which may have an effect on your living (for example dust allergy).
There are five (5) rooms in each flat, a shared kitchen and a shared bathroom. All rooms are furnished with bed, closet, table and chair. Most of the bedrooms have also a pillow and a blanket. You have to provide bedlinen and towels yourself. The flat doesn’t have any kitchen utensils, but some previous students may have left something behind (mugs, plates, knives, forks and spoons).
There are washing machines and a sauna in the ground floor. There is an Internet connec- tions available in all flats. There is also one computer class at school, which is available for students from Monday to Thursday until 8.30 pm and on Friday until 3.45 pm, whenever there are no lessons going on.
The rent per room is about 200 € + 15 € (Internet connection). The deposit is one (1) month’s rent and it will be given back when you move out.
Exchange student can also apply for a students' apartment from Wartalo Kodit by email as soon as you have got a confirmed study place in Varkaus (e.g. Savonia University of Applied Sciences). You can apply by email by giving the following information:
* Name * Address, telephone, email * Date of birth * Gender (M/F) * Your study place in Varkaus: school/university, degree programme * Date of moving into a student apartment and estimated date of moving out.

You have to arrive in school between office hours (8.00 am – 3.45 pm). If you arrive late in the evening or at night, you have to book a room in hotel (on your own expence).

How to arrive in Varkaus
The distance between Helsinki and Varkaus is 320 km. The easiest way to get to Varkaus is to take a plane from Helsinki to Varkaus. It takes only 45 minutes. See: http://www.flybe.com/.

As soon as you arrive in Varkaus, you have to sign the rental agreement and pay the rent & deposit (1 month rent). After that you receive the key to your room.
