The first time I used it I suffered a bad fall. My doctor LET US informed me that the scooter is not suitable for my needs. What rights do I have to ask for a refund or suitable replacement from SOLVE the seller? YOUR You may be familiar with some of your rights under the Sale of Goods Act 1979. On 1 October 2015, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 LEGAL replaced the Sale of Goods Act 1979 to strengthen some of your rights. PROBLEMS Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all products must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. This means that the goods should not be faulty or damaged when you receive them; they should be fit for the purpose they are sold for – or the specific purpose you mentioned to the seller before you agreed to purchase the goods; and they must match the description that was given to you. If the goods you bought do not satisfy one or more of these criteria, you can make a claim against the seller under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. What you can do will depend on how much time has elapsed since you bought the goods. You have a legal right to reject goods that do not meet these criteria within 30 days from the date when you bought them and get a full refund. After 30-days you will not be legally entitled to a full refund if the goods develop a fault although some sellers may offer you an extended refund period. If you are outside the 30-day right to reject, you have to give the seller an opportunity to repair or replace the goods. You can ask the seller to repair or replace faulty goods but the seller can normally choose whichever would be cheapest and or easier for them. If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund or a price reduction if you wish to keep the product. If you discover the fault within the first six months from purchase, it is presumed to have been there since the time of purchase unless the seller can prove otherwise. After the first six months, you will have to prove that the product was faulty at the time of delivery. If your attempts to obtain a refund or repair or replacement have been unsuccessful or you are outside of the time limits, you have six years to take a claim to the small claims court for faulty goods. Cullen Skink A traditional Scottish thick soup made using naturally smoked fish. This recipe serves 4 persons.

How to make it - SHOPPING LIST Firstly make the stock by heating the butter and vegetable oil in a large pan FOR THE STOCK and fry off the leeks and onion until soft 75g butter but without colour, then add the white wine to the pan and boil. Once boiling 1 tablespoon vegetable oil add the haddock and the water, bring 2 leeks roughly chopped back to the boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, carefully 2 onions roughly chopped remove any scum from the surface of 250mls white wine the pan. Remove the haddock from the stock and 500g natural smoked haddock cut into bite size pieces and set aside. 750ml water Strain the stock and set aside.

FOR THE SOUP To make the soup heat the butter and the vegetable oil and fry off the finely 75g butter chopped leeks, shallots and garlic until 1 tablespoon vegetable oil soft, about 3-4 minutes. Once soft add the potatoes and the chopped haddock 2 leeks finely chopped to the pan. Add the cooking stock that 2 shallots finally chopped you set aside earlier and boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 – 15 minutes or 2 garlic cloves crushed until the potatoes are soft. Remove from the heat and stir in the cream and blend 300g peeled chopped potatoes until smooth. 500ml double cream Serve the soup with a sprinkling of chopped parsley and crusty bread.

Some members contributed up to 12 hours of their time assisting ‘Santa’ in this fund-raising event. The proceeds will be going towards helping Andover’s young homeless and jobless during the coming months. The countless isles of mouthwash at the shops and all those very convincing adverts on telly make us believe that we need to use mouthwash daily if we want healthy teeth and gums. But is this true or just a very clever marketing ploy? Plaque that collects on our teeth and gums causes problems and needs to be physically cleaned away using a tooth brush (electric brushes remove much more than a manual), floss or interdental brushes. Plaque cannot be washed away using chemicals or liquids, it’s a bit like cleaning the dishes, just chucking water and some soap on the dish won’t clean it properly, you must get the sponge and physically scrub the dish to get it clean. Using a mouthwash after brushing your teeth can also stop your toothpaste from preventing tooth decay. We know that the fluoride in toothpaste has been proven time and time again to help reduce your risk of tooth decay, but it takes 20-30 minutes to absorb into your teeth. This means that after you have brushed your teeth, you should spit the toothpaste out and then don’t rinse with anything after for at least 20 mins. If you use mouthwash after, you end up washing away all the good fluoride along with all its benefits. However, there are some exceptions: • Ulcers: you can help to treat ulcers or sores in your mouth with a mouthwash called peroxyl which uses oxygen to help kill bacteria, hence why it will fizz in your mouth. For a more natural approach you can also use traditional hot salt water and the heat will stimulate your blood to help with healing and the salt is a natural antibacterial (use a tablespoon of ordinary table salt dissolved in boiled water mixed with a little cold in a small glass and use twice a day until the symptoms ease, and try not to swallow as it will make you sick) • Sensitivity: tooth sensitivity can usually be soothed with sensitive toothpastes, but if it is particularly sensitive then you can try Listerine ‘Advanced Sensitive’ mouthwash but at a different time to brushing. If you still really want to use a mouthwash, just remember:

57 This month’s Walk: Walking along the fringe of the New Forest by Malcolm Price his walk starts at the White Hart Inn, Old Romsey Road, Cadnam, TSO40 2NP (photo 1). Just off the end of the M27 before it melds into the A31. It takes in a full variety of terrain over the distance of 5 miles plus, skirting the boundaries of the New Forest. The outing should take between 90 and 100 minutes for the regular walker, depending on how many ‘selfies’ are taken with the New Forest animals.
