Boston’s premier Independence Day Halloween Week celebration will also include musical icon, songwriter, storyteller, and singer Arlo Guthrie, who will perform a musical tribute a half-century in the making—Summer of ’69—commemorating the 50th anniversary of July 19‐21—Heroes Woodstock. The Annual Bristol 4th of July Celebration began in 1785 when Rev. Henry Wight of the First Congregational Church and a Veteran of the August 2‐4—Royal Revolutionary War conducted the first Patriotic Exercises. It is not known exactly when the Parade started Weekend but it is thought that it evolved from the procession of community members walking to Patriotic Exercises. The Parade, the Military, Civic and Firemen’s Parade, is believed to have begun in the early 1800’s. August 7—Summer The Fourth of July Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and will step-off at the corner of Chestnut Street and Hope Street (Rt. 114) and ends on High Street, between State Street and Bradford Street. Food Truck Fesval Hope Street (Rt. 114) will be closed off beginning at 8:00 a.m., including Poppasquash Road. Beginning at #2 7:00 a.m., Chestnut Street, Naomi Street and Sherry Avenue will be closed to traffic.
