Maldonado Named KNPB VP of Education Services

(Reno, NV) — A northern career educator has been named Vice President of Education Services for KNPB Public Television. Nancy Maldonado, who has 25 years experience in the Washoe County School District as a classroom teacher, Dean of Students and Principal joined the station October 9, 2017. She will lead the KNPB Education Services department which provides literacy workshops and other in- classroom resources to teachers, students, parents and caregivers.

“Over the last several years we have experienced exponential growth in our education department,” said Kurt Mische, President & CEO of KNPB. “Nancy’s experience as a career educator will help us further grow and expand our services throughout our region.”

Maldonado earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from University of Nevada, Reno and holds a Master of Science degree in Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.

In the 2016-17 school year, KNPB provided it’s Ready to Learn literacy workshops to nearly 30,000 students in grade schools in Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Lyon and Elko counties. KNPB serves students, teachers, parents and caregivers through immersive educational services from KNPB Education Services that bring classroom lessons to life. In addition, the station conducts its annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest and maintains an on-line library of video and audio lessons for classroom use.
