The Association of Former Students Welcomes Lyle Lovett and His Large Band in Concert November 11 in Rudder Auditorium October 7, 2010

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University, in partnership with Texas A&M’s MSC Town Hall, welcomes Lyle Lovett and his Large Band in concert Thursday, November 11 at 8:00pm in Rudder Auditorium. Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Association of Former Students.

Lovett, a 1979 graduate of Texas A&M University, approached The Association in September about the concert as a way to multiply his own personal contribution to the recent enhancement of the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center.

Porter S. Garner III ’79, President and CEO of The Association of Former Students, commended Lovett’s support of The Association and Texas A&M University.

“Lyle is a great Texas Aggie who cares deeply about The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M, and represents us well,” Garner said. “We are thrilled to have Lyle use his immense talent to benefit Texas A&M. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band will put on a superb show for all of Aggieland. ”

One of the great all-time American singer/songwriters, Lyle Lovett is currently on tour with his Large Band supporting his most recent studio album, Natural Forces. For nearly three decades, Lovett has defined the modern Texas singer-songwriter. Fusing elements of the , country, folk, gospel and , four-time Grammy winner Lovett—in a career that spans 14 albums and more than four million records sold—has created his own style of Americana, defying convention and breaking down barriers along the way.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, October 15 at Texas A&M’s MSC Box Office. Packages ranging from $20 to $100 plus tax are available, with the top tier concert package including an invitation to a private reception with Lyle Lovett. Texas A&M students, faculty and staff are eligible for a $5 discount with valid Texas A&M identification.
