WELCOME! On behalf of the EC3 staff and Board of Directors, welcome to EC3’s biggest annual community event, our fundraising auction! We are thrilled that you are making time to participate. There’s something here for everyone: items to bid on, friends and teachers to connect with, and a chance to see how the EC3 community flourishes because of support from people like you. Our goal for this year’s auction is to raise at least $25,000. It’s ambitious, but it’s needed for our general fund, to continue the valuable work we’re doing in early childhood education throughout the greater Lansing area. We’re also trying to strengthen the neighborhood by making improvements to our building and grounds so that residents of south and west Lansing can enjoy a safe and pleasant environment for family activities. To bid on a silent auction item, simply print your bidder number (located on the back of your program) on the bid sheet line with your corresponding bid. Bids must be placed according to the printed minimum bid and bid increments. You may bid on as many items as you like, as often as you like. However, all bids placed are final. Every attempt has been made to provide the best description for each item. It is the responsibility of the bidder to carefully read auction descriptions and inspect items. Items purchased are “as-is.” Please note expiration dates on some services. Silent auction tables will close according to scheduled times. Please be sure to notice the closing times for each of the silent auction tables; this information is listed in this program as well as on the tables. Please do NOT remove the items or bidding sheets from the silent auction tables. If you are the top bidder on any given item, you may claim it at the check-out at any time. At the close of bidding for a silent auction table, auction staff will take the item and the top copy of the bidding sheet to check-out. The bottom copy of the bidding sheet will remain on the table for guests to review. You may pay for all your auction items (silent auction, live auction, bake sale, etc.) at once using cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover). Checks should be payable to EC3. You are welcome to make additional donations at the check-out as well. EC3 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you purchase an item or service and your bid exceeds the retail or actual value of that item, the difference becomes tax deductible. You will be issued a receipt. For advice on the tax deductibility of your items, please consult your tax preparer.

REVERSE AUCTION At the beginning of the live auction we will conduct a lively reverse auction, where participants can pledge a donation without purchasing a thing. The auctioneer will call for pledges from those willing to contribute $1,000 and we’ll accept all bidders at that level. After that, he’ll call for pledges at the $500 level, then the $250 level, continuing down to the $25 level. All those who pledge may pay at the check-out along with any items they have purchased. The reverse auction is a great way for extended family members to contribute to EC3 without having to purchase anything.
CASH RAFFLE Buy a raffle ticket for $15 or two for $25 and you’ll have a chance to win $100, $250, or $500 in cash! The drawing is held at the end of the live auction.
SILENT AUCTION There are four tables with everything imaginable up for bid. Some things are only a few dollars; others are more. Make sure you watch your bids and the time—once the table closes, that’s it! As you peruse the available items, consider buying something for your kids, your family, or just for you!
LIVE AUCTION The live auction is the most exciting part of the evening. If you’re not bidding it’s fun to watch— and if you are bidding, it’s fun to win! The live auction features one-of-a-kind items hand- crafted by EC3 children and staff, as well as grand experiences such as trips for the family. Dig deep—all the money we raise supports the programming that makes EC3 an outstanding place for young children!
BAKE SALE What would a preschool fundraiser be without a bake sale? We’ve got lots of tasty treats to satisfy your sweet tooth—and don’t forget to pick something up for the kids! Look for this table in the gym; you can pay with cash at the table, or put it on your “tab” with the rest of your auction items at the check-out.
T-SHIRTS Show your support of EC3 by purchasing a t-shirt for yourself and your children at the check- out. Only $10!
ADDITIONAL DONATIONS AT CHECK-OUT At the check-out, you will have the opportunity to make an additional, tax-deductible contribution to EC3. Simply let the cashier know how much you can give and it will be added to your total. Thank you for being part of the EC3 family!

Item #L-1 - Ladybug Room: Wild & Crazy Chair! This one-of-a-kind, hand-decorated Ikea “Poang” chair comes to life with the Ladybug infants’ handprints made into a safari animals. The chair comes with a photo album that features each child holding his or her special safari animal. There is also a related poem/song that goes along with the photos. To make the chair a little cozier, the teachers threw in a soft, child-sized tiger blanket to curl up in.
Item #L-2 - Bumblebee Room: Pretend Play Kitchen Dramatic play is important for young children, and this play kitchen will provide your little one with endless hours of fun! This play kitchen comes with knobs that turn, doors that open and a removable sink for easy clean up. The Bee babies added some color and handprints with yellow and black paint, like a bumblebee! When your child outgrows the play kitchen, you can remove the back and hang it on the wall as original artwork. It also comes with a cookbook full of recipes perfect for your growing infant.

The cookie jar comes full of cookies, and includes a personalized book with photos of the Seal kids. Inspired by the song, "Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?"
Item #L-5 - Dolphin Room: Adjustable Floor Lamp This beautiful floor lamp will brighten up any room! The shade was decorated with the Dolphin children’s fingerprints using stencils and colorful paints. This lamp could be used in your child’s favorite reading space, or as part of your living room décor!
Item #L-6 - "It's Just Politics" Production Visit Calling all state-politics watchers, podcast junkies, and radio news buffs. Join public radio producers Rick Pluta and Zoe Clark as they tape a segment of "It's Just Politics." You'll get the inside scoop on what's really happening inside the Capitol building and what politics are happening behind the scenes. Plus, you'll get to tour the recording studio and get a turn to ask the reporters the questions! Date and time to be scheduled with the winning bidder.

Item #L-8 - Gecko Room: Birdbath and Garden Ball This one-of-a-kind birdbath and garden ball will surely complement any garden or flower box! The bird bath was created using four flower pots that were painted and assembled by the Gecko children.
