HANS WERNER HENZE Fraternité – Air pour l’orchestre (1999) In memory of the great composer, and mindful of its own Wagner tradition, the Staatskapelle staged a glittering gala concert in RICHARD WAGNER the Semperoper on the eve of Richard Wagner’s bicentenary. Tannhäuser’s Rome Narration “Inbrunst im Herzen” It was directed by its Principal Conductor Christian Thielemann, Overture to Tannhäuser indisputably one of the great Wagner conductors of the present day. He was joined by the hottest young heroic tenor of recent years, Jonas Kaufmann. The programme featured the overtures Conductor Christian Thielemann to the Wagner operas written and premiered in Dresden - 1842 Orchestra Staatskapelle Dresden Rienzi, 1843 The Flying Dutchman and 1845 Tannhäuser - and Chorus Sächsischer great tenor scenes from Rienzi, Tannhäuser and Lohengrin.
