❑ In October 2017 the Department submitted an application for Phase 2 funding to National Treasury.

❑ In April 2018 National Treasury responded to the application for funding with a recommendation that the Department should conduct a comprehensive feasibility for funding for Phase 2 and resubmit the application.

❑ Department signed MoU with DBSA to conduct a feasibility study to determine cost-effective and efficient roll-out of broadband for Phase 2.

❑ The outcome of the feasibility study will be a bankable business case for Phase 2 to be used for funding application.

❑ DBSA is currently in a process of appointing a service provider to develop a scope for the feasibility study.
