Let’s Go Nuts in the Arboretum. Humber Arboretum. Join the Etobicoke master gardeners at the Humber Arboretum for a walking tour of the gardens and natural areas. Fall is the time when animals are storing up for the long winter. Discover what trees, shrubs and plants supply much needed nuts, seeds and berries for the migrating wildlife of the area. Learn what to plant in your own garden to help attract wildlife to your yard, or to add that extra element of colour, texture or sound during the fall. Many plants are grown for their fruit not their flowers and take centre stage at this time of the year.

The Making of the “Peterson Field Guide to the Mammals of North America”. Toronto Field Naturalists. Irving O. Shoichet Lecture. . Dept. of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry. The 2013 Irving O. Shoichet Lecture will feature Professor Jeffrey A. Hubbell from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Professor Hubbell’s research focuses on biomaterial issues in tissue engineering, cell-based therapies, drug delivery and medical devices.

Learn the story of how climate change created the raw materials used in the making of bricks, and how the layers exposed by the quarrying process helped to shine a light on the history and climate of Southern Ontario.
