The Intel® Pentium® 4 processor 6XX Sequence† supporting Hyper-Threading Technology1 helps provide additional overall performance with the 2MB of L2 cache and advanced technologies to improve system utilization.

With an Intel Processor 6XX Sequence with HT Technology5-based computer there are endless possibilities for work, play, creating, learning and being entertained. The processor capabilities and the features of a compatible Intel® Express Chipset combine for a dynamic and powerful desktop computer for the home, office and classroom.

Performance

The Intel Pentium 4 Processor 6xx Sequence with HT Technology has 2MB of L2 cache. The cache allows the processor to preload data which provides faster access to it. The more cache the processor supports, the more information the processor can get to quickly. Combined with Hyper- Threading Technology you can do simultaneous computing with greater system responsiveness. Hyper-Threading Technology helps maximize the efficiency of the processor by allowing the processor to complete more tasks in a given amount of time so you can play a game or engage in e-Commerce while running a virus scan in the background without slowing down the system.

Benefits: Gaming, Multimedia creation, Internet classrooms and Office productivity Advanced Technologies

Feature Benefit

Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology (EIST)- When running applications that demand less processor power, the Operating a power savings and acoustic improvement feature System will slow the processor clock speed down. Enabling of EIST can lead to power efficient systems that can run quieter and cooler2

Intel® EM64T3-an enhancement to Intel’s The enhancement enables the desktop processor platform to access larger amounts 32-bit architecture of memory. With appropriate 64 bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel® EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory. Intel® EM64T provides flexibility for 32 bit now and future software that supports 64 bit computing

Execute Disable Bit- a built-in security feature Execute Disable Bit adds an extra layer of security for safer computing. Its functionality can prevent certain classes of malicious “buffer overflow” attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory by where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, Execute Disable Bit can disable code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) HT Technology enables one physical processor to appear and behave as two logical processors to the operating system. HT Technology gives you true multitasking capabilities by enabling two applications to run simultaneously without slowing down the system.

Enhance Halt State Enhance Halt State is activated when the Halt instruction is executed by the processor. Halt is executed when the OS goes into idle mode which lowers frequency and voltage Dynamic Voltage Identification (Dynamic VID) to reduce power consumption.

Intel® Thermal Monitor (2) An enhanced version of Intel® Thermal Monitor that lowers frequency and voltage, Dynamic VID, to help reduce power consumption.

Intel Express Chipsets Includes integrated Intel® High Definition Audio for theatre quality sound and multi-streaming capability and Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Intel® GMA900) for vivid colors and realistic images without the cost of a video card.

Intel Designed Thermal Solution for Includes a 4-pin connector for fan speed control to help minimize the acoustic noise Boxed Processors levels generated from running the fan at higher speeds for thermal performance6 The fan speed control technology is based on actual CPU temperature and power usage.

Selecting the correct chassis and verifying proper thermal management is critical for integrating a high quality boxed Pentium 4 processor-based system. For Pentium 4 processor-based platforms in the LGA775 package a chassis based on Thermally Advantaged Chassis (TAC) version 1.1 is highly recommended to assist in maintaining an internal chassis temperature of 38°C (or lower). 1 Hyper-Threading Technology requires a computer system with an Intel® Pentium® 4 processor supporting HT Technology and an HT Technology enabled chipset, BIOS and operating system. Performance will vary depending on the specific hardware and software you use. See www.intel.com/info/hyperthreading for information

2 Power savings from Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology may vary depending on system usage and design.

3 Intel® EM64T requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, OS, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel® EM64T Processor will not operate (including 32-bit operation) without an Intel EM64T-enabled BIOS. Performance will vary depending on your hardware and software configurations. Intel® EM64T enabled OS, BIOS, device drivers and applications may not be available. Check with your vendor for more information.

4 Execute Disable Bit requires operating system support. See http://www.intel.com/business/bss/infrastructure/security/xdbit.htm for more information on how to implement this feature.

5 Look for systems with the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology logo and also including an Intel® 925X or 915 Express Chipset (see the product spec sheet or ask your salesperson). Performance and functionality will vary depending on (i) the specific hardware and software you use and (ii) the feature enabling/system configuration by your system vendor. See http://www.intel.com/info/hyperthreading for information on HT Technology or consult your system vendor for more information.

6 The acoustic benefits of the 4-pin header are reliant on a properly designed motherboard. Boxed Intel® desktop boards based on Intel® 925X and 915 Express Chipsets were designed with support for acoustic benefits of the 4-pin header.
