Esta edição, seguindo a linha das anteriores, teve como objetivo fazer a divulgação da investigação na área dos videojogos levada a cabo em Portugal e no estrangeiro, e fomentar a partilhar do conhecimento entre todos, para que este não fique fechado por entre as paredes que assistem à sua criação. Mas tentámos ir um pouco mais longe... Vivemos numa sociedade que se transforma a um ritmo alucinante. Se há bem pouco tempo criar um jogo era algo que estava reservado a algumas, poucas, grandes empresas, hoje o panorama não podia ser mais diferente. Iniciativas como a iTunes Store e o Market Store vêm democratizar o mundo da produção de videojogos, permitindo a qualquer um o acesso a facilidades de distribuição, um dos grandes problemas na comercialização de videojogos. Numa altura em que as portas do mundo do desenvolvimento dos videojogos estão abertas a todos, esta conferência assumiu-se como um elo de ligação priveligiado entre a academia e as empresas, entre artistas e programadores, entre jogadores e criadores de jogos. Para atingir esta abrangência, contámos com uma longa lista de convidados (amigos) especiais, que partilharam connosco as suas experiências. Vindos de diversas áreas, e de diferentes pontos do globo, com diferentes formações e percursos, os seus relatos na primeira pessoa permitiram-nos ter uma visão global deste mundo alucinante.     Rabi Scholars Program Annual Research Symposium Friday, 8 October 2010 12:00 Noon-2:00 pm 603 Schermerhorn Elizabeth Allocco Mentor: Professor Jennifer Manly, Columbia University, The Taub Institute Cultural Factors in Neuropsychological Testing It has been estimated that the number of people over the age of 65 who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease (AD) will more than double by 2050, to reach a number between 11 million and 16 million people. The disease will be burdensome both on the population level, where it will place a strain on the healthcare system, and on the individual level, where it will affect both patients and caregivers. This burden will be especially high among African Americans, who experience prevalence between double and triple that among whites. Preemptive efforts are being made to understand why AD is more prevalent in African Americans, and to develop methods to diagnose AD and other dementias more accurately. The California Verbal Learning Test II (CVLT II) is an assessment of learning and memory that may be used in the diagnosis of AD. The current standards of normal and pathological performance on the test may not lead to accurate diagnosis in non-white cultural groups. Preliminary findings of its use in a population of older African Americans, both with and without memory problems, indicates that the word recall strategy used by African Americans on the CVLT II is not accounted for in the normative data used to score the test. It may therefore produce an inaccurate picture of their cognitive state and complicate the effort to understand the diagnosis of AD in African Americans.

The variation in the number and equipment of thoracic segments is striking and it is possible that more than one genus is involved in the con- cept as defined above. Lysippe annectens Moore^ 1923 Lysippe annectens Moore^ 1923^ pp. 201-202, pi, 17, figs. 11-13; Hartman, 1969, p. 563. Records: 7229 (1); 7353 (5), Remarks: L. annectens, resembles L. capensis Day (1961, for full reference see below) and L, labiata Malm- gren (1866) in that the lower lip is crenulated in all three species. The thorax includes fifteen setigers in L. capensis, sixteen setigers in h. labiata and seventeen in L, annec- tens. Uncini are present from the fourth setiger in L. capensis and L, labiata and from the fifth setiger in L, annectens. Distribution: L. annectens is found in shelf, slope and basin depths off southern California. The present records are from deep water off Cedros Island, Baja Cali- fornia. Lysippe mexicana, new species (Plate 61, Figs, b-d) Records: 7231 (2); 7234 (1, TYPE), Description: The type is a complete specimen which has sixteen thoracic and thirteen abdominal setigers. It 300 ALLAN HANCOCK MONOGRAPHS IN MARIÍSIE BIOLOGY is 8 mm long and 1.2 nun wide with setae and is white with no color patterns. Eyes are absent. The slender body tapers evenly towards the posterior end. The anus has two short, tapering anal cirri. The prostomium is a truncate fold (Fig, b) with two lateral longitudinal ridges.
