Anthrax nehmen stattdessen wieder Fahrt auf und haben jüngst bestätigt, dass sie im Rahmen ihres 40-jährigen Jubiläums im Herbst nächsten Jahres vier Konzerte in Deutschland spielen. Being that we can’t get over there until 2022, we’re going to make sure that every show will be an eventful one. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

    Rock in Rio 2019: Sunset - Slayer e Anthrax se apresentam em dia dedicado ao Metal Show das bandas Torture Squad e Claustrofobia com participação de Chuck Billy e banda Nervosa completam as atrações do palco Rio de Janeiro, dezembro de 2018 — As novidades do Rock in Rio para a edição de 2019 não param. E, enquanto o Palco Mundo já anunciava suas quatro atrações para uma noite emblemática do metal, com IRON MAIDEN, Scorpions, Megadeth e Sepultura, a organização do evento preparava outra surpresa para os metaleiros que frequentam o festival. O Palco Sunset apresenta dois grandes nomes, para esta noite de 4 de outubro de 2019: as bandas norte-americanas Slayer, que fará seu último show da turnê de despedida dos palcos, e fecha o Sunset neste dia, e ainda Anthrax. Elas fazem parte do seleto grupo “The Big Four”, do thrash metal mundial. A abertura da noite fica por conta da banda Nervosa. Fundado em 2010, o power trio paulistano formado por Prika Amaral (guitarra e vocais), Fernanda Lira (vocal e baixo) e Luana Dametto (bateria), já lançou três discos de estúdio pela gravadora austríaca Napalm Records. O projeto mais recente da Nervosa, lançado em 2018, é o álbum Downfall of Mankind, que traz elementos do Death Metal à sonoridade da banda. A apesar da língua inglesa, as letras são, em sua maioria, focadas em problemas sociais do Brasil como corrupção e política.     In a Sacred Manner We Died: Native American Near-Death Experiences Jenny Wade, Ph.D. Institute of TranspersonalPsychology ABSTRACT: This article presents 11 historical Native American near-death experiences from the 1600s to the early 2 0 th century as they appeared in the accounts of early explorers, autobiographical records, and ethnographic accounts. It includes two stories from tribes around the Roanoke, Virginia area; two Chippewa accounts from the Mississippi Valley; a Chiricahua Apache account reported by Geronimo; two Zuni reports; two Saulteaux accounts from the Berens River area of what is now British Columbia; and two stories from the Oglala Sioux Black Elk. I explore commonalities among the accounts and comparisons with near-death experiences from other cultures. KEY WORDS: near-death experience; Native Americans. This article represents the first overview of historic Native American accounts of near-death experiences. It was begun when Harry Miller of Bowling Green, KY, drew my attention to two accounts he had come across through an antiquarian book dealer who possessed some of the original folio pages of the 1623 edition of Captain John Smith's Generall Historie, and although this paper does not aspire to a complete investigation of all the Native American records, it presents at least a representative sample of historical accounts precluding, as much as possible, colonial influences. Jenny Wade, Ph.D., is a developmental psychologist specializing in consciousness studies, especially consciousness at the edges of life, and adventitious altered states occurring in normal populations. She is on the core faculty at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and on the adjunct faculty at the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute, the Saybrook Institute, and John F.
