HIMSS PRESIDENT AND CEO HAROLD F. WOLF III: “ HAVE REACHED AN UNACHIEVABLE POSITION ON EUROPEAN LEVEL” HIMSS’19 Eurasia Health Informatics and Technologies Conference and Exhibtion organized by T.C. Ministry of Health and HIMSS USA, has stood out as a successful organization with the participation of more than 3000 foreign and local visitors, 215 higher up state protocols and IT experts on ministarial level from 32 countries and 72 exhibitors as a successful organization.

Bringing together the health leaders of Turkey and Regional Countries and at where the future of health informatics and technology in Turkey and the world was being discussed, HIMSS’19 Eurasia was held with the participation of T.C. Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca, T.C. Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Şuayip Birinci, President and CEO of HIMSS, Harold F. Wolf III and the Ministers of Health of guest countries and other ministry officials.

FAHRETTIN KOCA: “TURKEY IS AT THE POSITION OF HAVING THE MOST DIGITAL HOSPITALS IN THE WORLD AFTER USA”

Stating that Turkey has became the second best counry after United States in terms of having the most digitized hospitals in the world, the Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca said that we are keep digitizing our hospitals according to the model that you can see one an example in the Digital Hospital Arena at HIMSS’19 Eurasia. The process will not stop here; our next step is to turn our digizited hospitals into ‘Smart Hospitals’ including different systems with artificial intelliegence. The Minister Mr. Koca sharing his appreciation for observing the level the country got in healthcare said that If we express our success in numbers, according to HIMSS EMRAM criteria, our number of level 6 hospitals has reached to 174 and level 7 has reached to 3.

In addition, the number of Stage 7 Oral and Dental Health Hospitals have increased to 7 after the first application we launched this year. I definitely believe in that our success story will increasingly improve. Thanks to this event, I would like to congratulate each of our Stage 7 Hospitals; İzmir Tire Hospital, Yozgat City Hospital and İzmir Ödemiş Hospital.

HIMSS EURASIA 2019 POST SHOW REPORT 9 WE CREATED A STRONG ECOSYSTEM ON BEHALF OF OUR COUNTRY WITH MANY PROJECTS AND VISIONARY APPROACHES

Speaking at HIMSS’19 Eurasia organized by the cooper- ation of the Turkish Ministry of Health and HIMSS USA, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Şuayip Birinci has stated that they have done standardization and accreditation studies in order to make the data language common and regulate the sector more comprehensively mentioning the importance of data. Mr. Birinci mentioned the E-Pulse personal health platform which is a comprehensive project in data usage being appreciated globally. And “We thought that how we can eliminate the bureaucra- cy while serving our citizens and created the e-report The Ministry of Health, system. We have created a strong ecosystem with many Deputy Minister projects and visionary approaches for our country. We Dr. Şuayip Birinci established the SİNA to make our future projections from the big data. We are proud to develop the first decision support system reinforced by artificial intelligence in the world.”Birinci said.

Stating that as the Ministry, we follow the world trends in healthcare innovation as much as the private sector and the universities, said that we present our country by running several projects within the scope of European Union’s Horizon 2020 Program and the reason why we are here today is the output of this vision.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Health informatics and technologies are a very important for us because the health sector itself is an area rapidly transformed by technology. Development and dissemination of local and national solutions is a priority for us. As to my observations, we have a very strong infrastructure and human resources. I believe in that HIMSS Eurasia is also important in terms of enhancement of information sharing and cooperations in the coming period.

TURKEY MUST EXPAND TO OVERSEA MARKETS WITH ITS HIGH BRAND VALUE COMPANIES Dr. M. Mahir Ülgü, Turkish Ministry of Health General Director of Health Information Systems

The most important thing to do about the language of IT is standardization. This is basically what we want to accomplish in the first place, in other words, to provide 7/24 uninterrupted access by enabling the systems to talk to each other. Turkey must expand to oversea markets with knowledge, experience, energy and of course its high brand value companies.

THAT TURKEY IS IN A SERIOUS BREAKTHROUGH IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH WAS EMPHASIZED BY THE MINISTRY OFFICIALS Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya, General Manager of USHAŞ Turkey in a serious breakthrough in health especially about IT systems and infrastructure. Turkey is a country shown as exemplary at this point. That has been underlined at the meetings by our Health Ministry and guest country Health Ministries at HIMSS’19. Therefore, I think that this event is important and successful in this sense.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO MAKE DIGITALIZATION SUSTAINABLE Op. Dr. Fatih Hayali, Chief Physician of Tire State Hospital As Turkey’s first HIMSS Stage 7 hospital, we use fully digitized applications and it get much easier to reach the previous patients’ information. We got comfortable thanks to our closed loop medication systems, digital supply management systems, and physician and nurse decision support systems. But the most important thing is to make it sustainable. By re-validating this as of 2019, we proved that we have interiorized this as the institution and that we have established a corporate identity.

The number and variety of participants of HIMSS Eurasia has increased and its scope has expanded. It has a concept that covers not only certain services but all health services. WE HAVE A CAPACITY TO EXPORT OUR DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION SUCCESS IN HEALTH TO ABROAD Ali Erhan Birinci, General Manager of ANKAREF As a country, we have been experiencing a digital transformation in health. Our Ministry and our companies put great efforts in this. We have the capacity to carry the same model to abroad very easily. HIMSS Eurasia is an event we have been sponsoring the last three years, and I believe that our long-term participation contributes both to our company and the organization.

Since 2010, our branch in the United States have started to operate and in the same year, our vision positively changed as being HIMSS Platinum member and participating in HIMSS events. This lead us to understand that we are on the right way comparing the abroad. From 2005 to 2014, the Ministry of Health acted very innovative and contributed to us a lot. Our hospitals and hospital staff also helped us very much. We are the first one who started the HIMSS applications in Turkey by 2013. We will make the best effort to carry our country into a prosperous future.

HIMSS’19 EURASIA WAS NOTEWORTHY IN TERMS OF SHOWING THAT TURKEY PUTS GREAT IMPORTANCE ON START-UPS Ayşegün İmil Kader, Abbott Molecular Group Country Manager (Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia);

The meeting consisting of 11 Start-Ups being held within HIMSS’19 Eurasia was quite noteworthy in terms of showing that Turkey puts great importance on Start- Ups in the field of health. Knowing that the participant Start-Ups will be applied and used in much more better and technological health institutions around Turkey and the rest of world in the future periods, makes us stronger in terms of new ideas.

BY MEANS OF HIMSS EURASIA, A FUTURE-ORIENTED VISION HAS BEEN SHAPING İlter Tolga Doğan, E-KALİTE Founder and Projects Manager I previously attended one of the HIMSS events in America. HIMSS Eurasia attracted with a great deal of attention beyond my expectations. In this way, a future-oriented vision has been shaping. In response to the question how can we make more use of the data in the future, I think that Enhanced Analytic Method will be the most important subject of other HIMSS activities.

HIMSS EURASIA EVENTS ARE BECOMING IRREPLACEABLE Zekeriya Avşar, Çapa Medical Board Member I’ve been following HIMSS events since one of the event I have attended in Orlando, USA. The development of Turkey in health informatics and technology is very fast. We’ve come so far in the last three years that they started to follow us. Since the healthcare sector is now mainly fed by technology, HIMSS Eurasia events are becoming irreplaceable.

In 2015 in Computer Engineering Department of Baskent University “Urodynamics Training Kit” project was started as a Graduation Project. After a year working under the supervision of Computer Engineering’s and Medical School’s faculty members, the project was honored to be supported by the Ministery of Science, Industry and Technology. The ORUFLOW Self Operating Uroflow, developed in continuation of innovative Research and Development studies, is the first application of the worldwide trend of carrying pre-screening health tests outside the clinic in the area of urology. With the aim of becoming a global Turkish medical technology start-up Oruba is rapidly continuing its studies.
