It is the name we 6 have given to our work with all the conservation organisations in the area to protect and improve the wildlife network of the town. Most importantly, it is the means by which we hope people in the town and surrounding area will get even more involved in helping wildlife – whether by installing ‘wildlife homes’ in their gardens or helping to look after the local park or nature reserve as volunteers.

It provides an opportunity for statutory consultees (Natural England, the Environment Agency and Historic England) as well as other bodies, local authorities and the public, to comment on the scope of the SA and the level of detail that should be included within the appraisal.

The most recent update was in July 2013. Although outside of the monitoring period, this AMR gives an up-to-date position as at March 2014, against the 2013 LDS. The purpose of this section is to highlight the Council’s performance against the most recent LDS and to make recommendations as to whether the LDS needs to be further updated. The plan preparation has taken longer than expected in the 2012 LDS, which was the reason why the LDS was updated in 2013.
